Who Won? Who Lost? MLB Trading Dealine
Biggest winners: Brewers, Cubs and Dodgers. Losers: mets and Phillies for doing nothing. Also, the Mariners. What the hell is going on with that organization?

Winners are Dodgers for getting Manny and Pirates for getting some good young talent. Losers are the Red Sox for pretty much ending their season. Great job Theo.

The Angels - hands down. Texiera was a great acquisition - provides some offensive protection for Big Vlad. And of course can't forget about Milwaukee and the Cubs. Both teams picked up great pitchers in C.C. Sabathia and Rich Harden.

Dodgers just robbed the Sox blind. Getting one of the greatest hitters of all time for a guy hitting .217 and a pitcher who had Tommy John surgery last year was highway robbery. Plus Sox will pay the remaining $7M of his salary this season.

Dodgers are 26th in runs and 28th in HRs........ they needed a big bat and got the best available.

No Yankees? I thought their moves were very shrewd & filled their needs. Sabathia trade obviously was the big one. Cubs getting Harden helped, but they would have done well to get another bullpen arm to in case Wood takes longer than expected.

The Dodgers would have been the biggest winner had that not already had 5 outfielders prior to signing Manny.

What do they do with Pierre and Jones' huge contracts?

LOL @ Ned Colletti. He is such a homo.

People keep talking about Dodgers crowded outfield like they got 5 all stars or something.

Andruw was benched permanently even prior to getting ManRam. Same thing with Pierre. So the outfield will be Manny in left, Kemp in center and Ethier in right. Andruw will be used mostly as a defensive replacement and occasionally bat so he can rack up more Ks and DPs.

Dodgers aren't paying even a penny of Manny's contract this season.

Ned Colletti is still a gomer. Hands down worse GM in all of baseball.

Joe Torre went on record saying it wasn't even discussed where Manny would play or who would be benched prior to signing Manny.

Look, the Dodgers are my second favorite team and I hope Manny takes them to the playoffs but their GM has made horrible moves in the past and this one is borderline knee jerk as well.

I think all three teams in the Ramirez trade could come out winners, depending on how one looks at the deal. The Dodgers get a big stick to make a run towards the playoffs, so if they do make the postseason and at least get past the NLDS round, it would be a good deal for them. The Bucs get to reload and maybe, just maybe this new regime in Pittsburgh has a frickin' clue and will begin to at least turn the venerable old franchise around a bit. And the Red Sox have a giant tumor removed from their clubhouse, plus get a great guy in Bay who they will never, ever have to worry about as to whether he's going to hustle or keep his focus during a game.

A lot being made too about how the Dodgers don't even have to take on any of Manny's contract...but this deal will cost them eventually. If they re-sign Ramirez, his buttmunch of an agent is going to wring a minimum of $150 million out of them. And they're still on the hook for $18 million for Andruw Jones next year; good luck dealing him without eating a bunch of that, and good luck having both him and Ramirez in the same outfield. They still owe Juan Pierre something around $30 million over the next three years, which is an awful lot of money to be playing a backup off the bench with squat for power. Plus they reportedly dangled Matt Kemp out there in the past two weeks, so you can bet that he'll charge the Dodgers more to re-sign him in a few years.

On the Griffey deal, I'm not real sure why the ChiSox wanted this guy, especially if it came with a pre-trade whine of wanting to be the full-time CF as we're led to believe. On the other hand, it's not like Chicago gave up much in terms of talent to get him unless either Masset or Richar just explode. I swear, no way Richar is just 25-years-old.

In the end, as others have mentioned, I really think the Brewers and Cubs did their teams well with the trades for the big arms, while Oakland and Cleveland got some decent prospects in return. So I'll pick the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee for coming out the biggest winners in the July trading.

Harden will blow his arm out. Guy is a ticking time bomb.
