In NY we have a law that states you cannot purchase scratch off tickets, pick 5's basically anything lotto cant be put on a credit card. So I was in line at the grocery store today and noticed this lady who had a hand full of things. She had children with her that were asking for candy but she told them no because "they didnt have enough money for it" and they started crying a little...anyway, The cashier rings her out for her food and she says "Ill put this on CC". Then after everythings been paid for....she says " I want $100 worth of scratch offs"...and begins selecting the tickets she wants. After she gets done, she hands the cashier the money and walks away starting to scratch off her tickets....

What a scumbag bitch.

when i was waiting in line for **, i saw couple of people goes to the counter every 5 minutes and purchase like 5-6 scratch ticket...they're treating it like the slot machine...sad

Yea its deffinitly sad...but what really pissed me off was not the fact that she "beat the system" by putting the food on CC then buying the tickets with cash, but the fact that she told the fuking kids they didnt have money for a simple 99 cent candy bar and then goes and spends 100 on lotto tickets...

You know what I almost did? Bought the kids the candy bars with my own money. Really was going to but then I thought about it....if I started buying candy for every kid that had degen parents I would go broke in a heartbeat.

Just really a sad thing to see either way.

There are like 34 lotto office in my tiny suburb town and probably 2,300 in the rest of the city. For some reason here they only sell lotto in lotto stores. Of course you are allowed to gamble online here so the gov't isn't quite a hypocritical.

What makes scratch tickets the biggest scam is they continue to sell them after the big prizes have been claimed. Read about a class action lawsuit the other day.
