Same with Bama, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Boise St. If you listen to the guys on ESPN all they talk about is that top teams need to cover the spread to maintain favorable voting. So if LSU is up by 20 points with 4 minutes left Les Miles won't pull out the starters but he is going to go for the score. Auburn doesn't care if they don't cover the spread. Their season won't be judged whether they cover the spread or not since they are rebuilding.

It has nothing to do with the bcs. It has to do with the voting in the polls. The pollsters know the spread and if there is a 4-5 team tie of undefeated teams they will rank them in their votes with who covered the spread vs who hasn't.
