Favre gets 20 mill buyout not to play while Packers get cone&burger tax in Wisconsin.
I live an hour from Wisconsin and everytime I stop at a ** Donald's 300 miles from Green Bay I'm taxed on the food a couple cents more and it goes to the Packers.A few years ago when Lambeu Field was being renovated the whole state took on the burden of financing it.The crux of the story is that if Favre get's his 20 mill for not playing, the money essentially came out of the Mickey D's taxes where paperboys and the likes paid the taxes.Someone should tell Favre this.I used to like the guy but that sure has faded.

My advice is to quit paying that tax whenever possible, quit rooting for the Packers since anything that was at one point or another connected to Bud Selig has got to be a ripoff, and above all else, quit eating the crap they serve at McDonalds.

Why can't this be settled on the field? Let Brett go to camp. Let the two qbs compete and play the one who is performing the best. Isn't that how it is suppose to work?

Favre is no future for any team. You cannot blame them for moving forward. The last couple of years he is always talking about retiring....let it be. This is no difference from when the 49's traded Montana to the chiefs. This is what happens. Never forget, it is a business and is all about the $$$$$

Believe it all boils down to Brett's fickle ways the past couple of years. There wouldn't be ANY problem if Favre would just make a decision and stick with it. He's got a lot of Roger Clemens in him, it would seem, and it's hard to expect anyone to have much sympathy for him from where I'm sitting.

I'm not talking sympathy (although I'm pulling for Brett in this one). Isn't the goal of all teams to have the best players on the field? If he thinks he can go through training camp and be the best quarterback, why not let him prove it? The way that QBs get hurt now, most teams need a couple of good ones. I think he would accept it if he were beat out by a better player. Didn't Bart Starr play in a backup roll for a couple of years?

I agree, Nina. But at the same time, the Packers did all they could to accomodate him when he pulled this stunt a year ago, why should they be made to be the bad guys this time? As for Starr, I think he played sparingly his final season, but was a starter the rest of the time. And I sure don't recall him holding two press conferences to announce his retirement and then returning to the field so he could hold a third goodbye photo op.

I really don't remember Bart Starr since that was before my time. While Brett may have had a couple of years of yo-yoing no this, the Packers did sign him to a multiple year contract years ago which still has a couple of years left. Instead of whining and asking Brett to not return, just let him. Who knows? He could get hurt before the season starts. When you are vying for a position I don't think you get pampered like the others.

You act if Brett negotiated this tax. The GREEDY Packers did, and idiot government officials agreed to it.

Why should anyting asociated with the biggest money making sports league in the world ask for tax breaks or handouts to build and rebuild stadiums.

THATS what you should eb angry about, not Brett for collecting money that he signed for.

You were in diapers when Starr was on his way out, mi hija. You used to waddle around the house pretending one minute you were Bear Bryant and the next minute you were Vince Lombardi

As for Favre, we'll just have to agree to disagree. If I'm the Packers, I'd tell him if he wants to play this year he needs to waive any no-trade clause in his contract and then ship him off to some team like Miami or Baltimore for a 35th-round pick in 2030 and a case of Schlitz.
