anyone do those mailing scams/pryimid schemes?
i don't know exactly what category you would call them, but someone sends you a letter and it has 6 peoples names on it, you are supposed to contact any of the mailing services they list and purchase a list of 200 names and then mail those 200 peoples names the paper you got about all the money you will make and take the first persons name off the list and bump the others up and add your name to the 6 spot.

they break it all down about how if you mail 200 people and then they mail 200 people and so on.

you are supposed to send $1 to the 6 people and in turn when you put your name on the list and IFthose people you mail send dollars and then add your name and the next people send a dollar and so on and so forth.

they also put on there about how it is totally legal under section whatever of the US postal code and blah blah blah.

i got these a few times back in the mid-90's, but i just got one again the other day. I thought these were defunct ,but i guess people are still doing them.

it ain't much of an investment to take a shot at it, but i just think it is bullcrap. I'd probably spend the 6 bucks to mail to the people on the paper and then whatever the cost for the mailing list and then paper and envelopes and stamps, and i'd probably be lucky if 2 people ended up sending me a dollar.

just curious if anyone ever took a shot at it and did they even regroup their investment.

My favourite scam was the guys who were selling horseracing information. Nobody paid in advance and you only paid if you won. They would pick a six horse race and give out a different horse to everyone that called. The deal was youd put your own bet on and £100 for them. It meant that a sixth of the callers were always given the winner and if the scammers got lucky it was the 20-1 outsider, netting them 2grand from each of the one-sixth of their callers given that horse. The beauty of it was almost everyone that won paid them because they were convinced it was inside info and they wanted more. They were busted in the end.

Hi Louisville,I'm finally getting around to replying back to you on this matter.Down through the years I have been sort of a bonus whore for bank bonuses, trial offer bonuses, premiums,,you name it,I looked into benefitting from it.Even though I have taken financial safegards ,the residual affect is that my e-mail address, mailing address and phone number has been sold a million times to hucksters, scheisters, scammers, loan sharks, penny ante thieves, grifters, con men,,,you name it.I'm not in the upper 1% of anything and am not the king of anything to write home about but I am the king of being on lists where these people pester me.I did put my name on the no contact list that went into law but it does no good.

I knew going into it that I would be susceptible to this stuff so it's my own damn fault.hehe!
