"Geddy Lee" is what he became known as.

His mother used to call for him when he was a boy and couldn't pronounce "Gary" properly, with her thick accent she called out to "GEDDY", it stuck and thats how we got GEDDY LEE!

"YYZ" (the title of which is properly pronounced "Y-Y-Zed") is an instrumental rock piece by Rush, from the 1981 album Moving Pictures.

YYZ is the IATA airport identification code for Toronto Pearson International Airport, of Rush's native hometown Toronto.

"It's always a happy day when YYZ appears on our luggage tags!" - Neil Peart
The piece was written to celebrate the joy of returning home to Toronto. Yes, it is the call letters of the airport, and the morse code is pretty accurate - but those were the results of an ode to the band's hometown. These three guys tour like mad - and apparently love to return home to relax and spend time with family and friends. The "joy" exhibited by the rapidity of the instrumental is supposed to be reminiscent of the feeling (i.e. heart racing) the band members get when knowing they will soon be home after a long time away.
