    Quick chess picks
North Urals Cup - Women's tournament

All 4 games to draw are at about EV. The first round saw 3/4 games drawn. All games were decisive in the second round. I think the first round was an exception rather than the norm.

Why women's games are less frequently drawn:

    1) Women are weaker players. Weaker players tend to have more decisive games as mistakes are more common.

    2) Women, like in many other sports, are highly unpredictable/variable. The huge favorite going into this tournament is 0/2 so far. Expect more meltdowns and hence more losses.

    3) The time control is G/90 + 30secs. This seems to be the norm nowadays. It's very easy for someone to get low on time, or some games to become time scrambles.

After this round they get a rest day. Hopefully they decide to duke it out as best they can and then rest, rather than having a quick draw and resting early!

Anand vs Kramnik is tricky. I'd be really surprised if either won by 2 games. Kramnik has had some crappy tournament results lately, but he is a different beast in matches. I'd give an edge to Anand, though. You know he wants this badly.

what is your angle on the possible range of room temperature's effect on the player's performance. i think if it is warm, expect under.

The warmer the temperature, the more likely a blunder (especially if the game has already lasted a few hours).

Bummer, 2 drawn, 1 decisive, 1 still going. Bit of a time scramble in Q + 2 vs Q + 1. Should be a draw but looks very hard to defend.
