i'm starting this thread to counter the "prove you don't care by caring enough to sign here that you don't care if there's an nba season" attitude. makes no sense, if you don't care then why do you have to keep pushing your opinion on others?

most of these "don't care" guys just want their closet racism/jealousy to be accepted. just because you're a 5'10" fat white guy that can't run, jump, or dunk doesn't mean it's not fun to watch and bet on people running, jumping, and dunking.

why are they college basketball fans and not nba fans? it's not because of david stern. it's not because michael jordan doesn't play anymore. it's because they live in college towns, went to a college that has a decent basketball team, or because they grew old like beantownjim and think the nba is full of "overpaid janitors".

college basketball for the most part is much more non-athletic than the nba so that fits into my bizarre fixation just fine. and i'm only fixated on it because about 300,000 people on sbr have said lately stuff like "the players should be out on the street where they belong".

someone has to fight back against the ridiculous anti-nba comments on a forum that should be full of people that love sports and the highest level of talent/competition.

I'm not saying this just to take the other side in this argument but I really hope they don't have a season this year. 75% of the NBA owners are losing money and if they cave in to the players then all the prices of everything surrounding the NBA skyrockets which means it comes out of our pockets. Besides, it gives us all a chance to focus and wager on the overseas hoops leagues.

It starts right around MLK day. Owners created their own mess. Nobody held a gun to their heads and said "give Eddie Curry 15 mil a year......lock Darko up for 7 mil.....Kwame Brown is the missing piece. 5 mil is a bargain." Owners want 50/50. Players want 53/47. Split the difference and move on. They have a solid product and if an owner feels he can't run his team and turn a profit, sell it to someone else. There are plenty of untapped revenue streams and the players realize a restructuring of future contracts needs to happen.
