I've been playing off and on for a long time but I don't consider myself all that good. I'm between about a 1000-1150 rating depending on the time of the game. Anyone play?

Slim, you're good man. I keep playing the lower rated players so my rating only goes up a few points when I win. I need to play better competition but my fragile ego can't take it.Comment -

#7I love chess! Played a lot when I was younger. I am around 1600 +/- 100 My son is 4 1/2 and I am teaching him to play. It's a challenge, but it's really fun when you see things click with them and they understand the different moves and how to think ahead. It's a battle for him if he wants to play video games or chess. He usually chooses video games though.Comment -

#8I haven't played Chess years. My game of choice is all of the Othello/Reversi games. I'm giving away points to people that beat me. I've given away 300 SBR points so far. If you are interested in the FREE chance at points check out this thread http://forum.sbrforum.com/players-ta...br-points.htmlComment -

#9I'm as good as the next guy, but I love the chess studies. I have noticed occurrences in (certain) sports where they relate to a particular chess study. The most common one, and my favourite example is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_R%C3%A9ti
Anyone who coaches teams should research chess studies, and/or have a good chess player as part of the coaching staff.Comment -

#10Love the game. Played it, do play. Never studied it. Never got rated. Would get my ass kicked by someone who knew the game. I'd fall for every trap imaginable.
I'm dynamite on the Pente board but chess just takes too much effort and time to be really good. Love the game though. Terribly complex.Comment -
