Julien Leparoux and his mount, Here Comes Frazier, had led all the way in the Bourbon Stakes. Coming down the homestretch, the jockey and colt appeared to be riding to victory when Leparoux was suddenly thrown from the saddle and launched over the infield rail.

Here Comes Frazier was avoiding Leparoux's whip. The resulting jolt sent the 2009 Eclipse Award winner for outstanding jockey over the aluminum rail. The Daily Racing form reports Leparoux suffered only minor injuries to his wrist and fingers and rode in two more races later in the day.

Here Comes Frazier was not as fortunate. The horse had multiple fractures in its hock and will need surgery. Trainer Ken McPeek expects the 2-year-old colt to survive but never to race again

The $150,000 stakes race was won by Animal Spirits.

Looks to me like "the battery" may have been the cause.

Hind legs are much more difficult because of blood flow, however hocks have a solid chance where sesamoids( Barbaro) have very little if any chance.Really depends how catastrophic the damage is.

It only happened cause Brock probably bet on the horse. Otherwise he would've won by 10.

                That's a shame.

Kind of scary to see those 1000 pound horses flopping around on the ground like a doll.

i am so glad to see the horse lived. It goes to show it can happen at any time to any level of horse. I wonder if this would of been a 4000 claming race if they would of ethuonzied the horse
