Wait until Conner Shaw takes a few hits then South Carolina will wish they had Garcia.

Rumors of point shaving involving dismissed South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia have surfaced, but multiple Las Vegas sportsbooks told Covers.com they had not seen any unusual betting patterns on Gamecocks games.

“We haven’t seen a thing,” MGM Mirage sportsbook manager Jeff Stoneback said Wednesday afternoon. “It seems every once in a while we see one of these rumors pop up, and we had our suspicions about Toledo a few years good. It’s pretty obvious when something like that does happen, and we haven’t seen any unusual betting patterns on South Carolina."

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier dismissed Garcia from the program on Tuesday for failing an alcohol test, the school said in a statement.

Will Folks, the founding editor from Fitsnews.com, who is based in Columbia, S.C., reported on the rumors Friday night. Folks also was the first to report Garcia’s dismissal Tuesday and has sources close to Garcia, including family and friends.

"My sources contacted me about the rumors," Folks told Covers.com. "They wanted me to look into them. They adamantly denied them."

Las Vegas professional handicapper Steve Fezzik tweeted about the Garcia rumors Wednesday: “Rumors Garcia was point shaving for S Carolina? I'd look carefully at the Navy game where the line CRASHED down from 17 to 14.5...on sat am.”

The Gamecocks opened as 18-point favorites over Navy. Thecovers.com/sports/odds/linehistory.aspx?eventId=29823&sport=ncf k and by kickoff was down to South Carolina -16. Garcia completed 18 of 25 passes for 204 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in a 24-21 Gamecocks’ win.

Fezzik is a two-time winner of the Las Vegas Hilton's NFL handicapping contest and respected sports bettor in Vegas.

South Carolina went 2-3 against the spread with Garcia as the starter this season. The senior completed 51.7 percent of his attempts for 844 yards with four touchdowns and nine interceptions, before being benched in favor of Connor Shaw before last week’s Kentucky game.

The Gamecocks opened as 20-point favorites over Kentucky. Early money came in on the Wildcats and dropped the line to -18.5, before Spurrier announced the change at quarterback. After Shaw was named the starter, money came back in on the Gamecocks and pushed the line to as high as -21, according to covers.com/sports/odds/linehistory.aspx?eventId=30026&sport=ncf

In games, Garcia started or played meaningful minutes, the Gamecocks went 19-19 against the spread the past four seasons.
