I would guess that most of you haven't given it more than a quick thought. I would say less than 10% here have started a Retirement account and are planning for that day. The rest are living life day to day. What do you plan to do when your 60 with no money in the bank? Its not like off shore books are gonna start opening 401k plans for ya.
Is anyone here thinking about Retirement?

#2I think I'm considerably older than most of the posters here...I've got my 401K through work and an IRA that we have faithfully fed over the years and our savings account which, in another ten to twelve years will let me retire in the manner to which I would like to become accoustomed!

#4You guys are in the minority. You have thought about your future. I would say there are others here who haven't. And will be trying to hit 10 team parlays when they're in their 50's to catch up and put some money aside.Comment -

#5If your work offers a 401K, especially if they match, you gotta do it. It's like passing up free money if you're not in at least for as much as your job matches...Comment -

#10I could retire in about 3 or 4 years but my line of work I really enjoy. I will work until I am very old probably. I own my company and it has grown over the years. I have 13 employees and things are great. I plan on working a long time because it is my business and enjoy it.המוסד

#14My first business was in the music industry, I still do it but I own 3 group homes in the community. They each house 5 adults with different types of disabilities and behaviors. It is a very rewarding profession I believe. The state pays for each client monthly. I am looking to branch out in all areas. It doesn't matter if we are in World War 3 there will always be need for people with disabilities and housing for them. I used to be in the trenches of this job and the pay was terrible. Now that I am on the other side of it It is a different picture. I still get in the trenches and work on-line with the staff. We house people that need restraints to medical conditions. I am currently looking to open a home in Los Angeles and eventually start moving Midwest to the East Coast. The three houses keep my on my toes but I have it running smooth and I love to make money and I cannot see myself doing any other kind of work.Last edited by flyingillini; 07-26-08, 12:19 PM.המוסד

#16I am broke, I had money years ago but cashed everything out to pay loans, books, ect. It is too hard to save, I need the cash to gamble and live. I think most are in my shoes though.Comment -

#211. Start a business, even if its part time for now.
2. Pay of credit card debt. They are disguised loan sharks.
3. Save 6 months living expenses in cash.
4. Fund an IRA, or 401K to the max each year.
5. Extra can be used for gambling. No extra - no gamble.Comment -

#26I'd love to meet the real guy behind the JJ mask. I bet your right Slick. look at his pad, nice granite tops also those work vids from the office, the cocksucker proably owns his business. Reason JJ doesn't meet posters and participate in events is it would kill the illusion he created. His on-line persona would be blown.Comment -

#31I put $100 a paycheck in a 457 deferred comp account (doesn't get taxed going in).
Been doing it for 2 years and in another 19 years its gonna look real nice if I increase it by $50 a year.
Should be a check for right around $620,000
that combined with my pension should be enough to allow me to travel, play poker, golf and sports bet my brains out.Comment -
