#17College degrees are highly over rated
Here's my take on college degrees.Do you ever see who's getting into college these days and what these people major in?These kids could NOT pass the tests kids were given in the 6th grade back in the turn of the last century. At least half the courses, credits and majors are worthless feel good fluff degrees .Lots of liberal arts social sciences stuff where you either never get a job in the field you want or you resort to working at a makework job for the government burdening the tax payer.
Sure, there are a ton of meaningful degrees people get in college but you have to go by a case by case assessment of them.I'm sure if you took everything into consideration and gave colleges a report card on their success rate, you would have everything from A+ TO f- just like SBR does for rating sportsbook.I actually think that is a good example because there are as many great and good sportsbooks percentage wise as there are great colleges and degrees. It tends to be where there are many more C's to F-'s than A+ to B's.
The good thing is,if a guy is really mechanically inclined, you can forget the fancy schmantzy college degrees because there is an unbelievable demand for those kind of people these days.Ever watch all those industrial themed shows on tv like Chopper shop and restoring old cars? These people working in these places think you are talking about shaking a can of Bud when you talk about Shakespeare.Academically, they are bloomin idiots many of them but the doctors and lawyers are going to them spending big bucks to get their cars fixed. There really are alot of industrial service jobs that pay much better than the majority of people with college degrees earn. The problem is,you get these industrial working man types that make big money and they are stupid at money management buying stupid toys for boys where they are broke.I know a guy that can barely read and write but he's absolutely brilliant at anything mechanical or industrial. If they had a reality show called stump the mechanic, this guy would never get stumped and win.No matter what you ask him to do to help you out as a friend,he can accomplish it.He's the kind of guy that knows where to get any part for any vehicle.etc.Once again though, the guy makes great money and has nothing to show for it.
I just saw some hoity toity broad on tv that had every music degree under the living sun playing in some government subsidised symphony and she had to teach spoiled brats the piano in her ratty apartment to make ends meet.Alot of people like this who still owe for college loans well into their 30's come up with this bull crap that having a profession isn't about how much money you make,it's about self gratification and making a difference in the world. On NBC Dateline they had another woman just like this who took on servicing 5 old sugar daddies so she could afford a high end lifestyle in New York city playing in a symphony and teaching music.
There is so much dysfunction in society brought on by the new deal and great society that we have a population of Bevis's and Butthead's.Corporations know that and they are guilty of using college degrees as a screening process. They figure that the degree may be worthless but at least someone stuck it out for 4 years and showed up every day disciplining themselves to being taught and trained babble and gobbledegook.Comment -
