What's the story behind Pinnacle Race Course in Detroit opening today?Anyone here attend?Will there be a casino there?With Detroit and Michigan's economy in the pitts,this owner of the track really went out on a limb.I guess the news from Musgegon a couple hours away doesn't hit Detroit or the guy would have known about the plight of Great Lakes Downs going out of business.It never ceases to amaze me how someone can make a vast fortune in business and then make a totally sentimental stupid decision from the heart thinking horse racing will make it these days with so much casino competition.The owner has been into racing as an owner for many years and he must have put a pair of one of his horses blinders on to have tunnel vision thinking everyone is like him loving horse racing.

I give it two years without a casino.Even with a casino I don't think it will make it.

I remember DRC. When I first started betting horses it was open. I think it was Ladbrokes Detroit Downs. It was so bad. At the end they had really small fields. I hope this does better.
