Shouldn't a parlay make you more money than betting on the two games separately?
    Example:

I have $500. I want to bet a parlay on the Indians (+105) and the Nationals (+170) -- if I win, I'll have $2500 total according to BetOnLine.

I have $500. If I bet it on the Indians (and win), my new total will be $1025. If I then bet the $1025 on the Nationals (and win), I will have $2775 (or thereabouts ...).

    How can that be?

Isn't BetOnLine the book that has bogus parlay caps. That could explain it.

And to answer your original question, a parlay should pay exactly the same as if you rolled over your Game 1 return as you described.

OK, the answer is that BetOnLine has a cap of 4/1 on two-team parlays. Thus, max winnings on 500 is 2000, so 2500 is right according to their rules. That rule is the primary reason I've never played there.

A parlay cap on of 4 to 1? That seems a bit crazy...

Agreed, and they are losing a lot of business. You can't even get full value parlaying two +130 shiots!

Not so much cheating people as people not making those bets when they realize they should be getting paid much more... They are losing business...

Capping parlays in itself is a stupid concept considering the house edge on them.

Maybe they would if they let people bet 2 team parlays on +210 and +300 teams that will never hit!

                              Parlays are fine...less risk

but betting the nationals is the same as playing the state lottery

                              money to burn

BOL is the only book I know of with parlay caps max. That doesn't mean there are not others though.

                                  Yup,BetOnline is bad for parlays!

They gave me a no strings attached free $25 bet a few months ago during hockey season.I kept changing my parlay bet because it bewildered me why the payout would have been so low.I thought it was an error with their software or lines at first. Not a good selling point giving you a free bet only to find out that if you did bet parlays with your own deposited money, you would get shafted.

I'm glad this topic came up because I thought I was drunk or something when I couldn't figure out this mystery.

Just ask the Braves about the Nationals ... they might not agree with your 'money to burn' theory!
