LOL True. I don't like the tipping system. I'll tip the waitress to keep my positive aura. At least she is moving around. The writers just sit there

#37The ticket writers have the drink coupons. I'd guess that throwing them a tip every now and then if you are a regular will get you more of them. Ask Fishhead this kind of question. He'd know. All I can tell you is the casinos don't give a shit about the book as long as it is turning a tiny profit. That is why the trend now is to lease the books to an outside company like Cantor and Luckys.Comment -

#39Originally posted by onlookerYou get a $1 for every $220 bet at the LV Hilton. Which is the best ratio I think. Other places are like $500 for a $1 comp.
Yes, Hilton the best.
Stations is $1 for every 1000............but if one is PRESIDENT cardholder they can use 500 pts for $1 at the buffet................and if one is 50+, they can dine at ANY stations restaurant for half the points on Wednesdays, thus $500 wagered earns $1 in comp.
Personally, I quaify on both ends, so they are good deal for me.......PLUS today I earned 3x pts on all my sports wagers...............so essentially I was making $1 in food comp at any of the stations restaurants for every $167 wageredComment -

#40Originally posted by CasperwaitsSports are the worst for getting comps. If you make 4 $100 bets at different windows, you should be able to grab 4 drink tickets at most casinos.

#43Has Vegas changed a lot post recession or has Reno always been way more generous with drinks?
I live in sacramento so im only 2 hours from Reno. I probably go up there 3-4 times a year and Vegas maybe once a year.
When im in Reno it seems there are 10x waitresses than i see in vegas and the second you sit down at any table game or slot machine it seems a waitress is there to give you a drink. Just being in the sports book or Keno and scribbling on a parlay card will get you a free drink.
Although not advised if your playing poker you can order round after round of shots at the Pepermill. Vegas on the other hand, they always wanted a drink ticket and it seemed sitting at a slot machine or tables you could barely ever get a drink.
In terms of headcount Reno seems to be struggling mightily, mostly from the fact that Sacramento and the surrounding northern California area has like 25+ card rooms and Indian casino's so there's not much of a point to go besides sports betting or to go to a few clubs and gamble.
In spite of This Reno seems to be 10x better than Vegas in terms of drinks. I can get ****** up at Keno and never play a dollar.
Oh yea all of this without ever showing a players card.Comment -

#4415 years ago Vegas was much better with the comps in everything from rooms to food. Now you have to ask half the time just to get a drink coupon a bet.Comment -

#46Dont expect much beyond drink tickets for sports wagers. At Caesars, you get about 1000 tier credits for every $16K bet. 1000 tier credits is $10 in comps. You may get another 1000-2000 extra Rewards Credits, which is another $10-20. Basically $16K bet will yields anywhere from $10-30 worth of comps that you can use anywhere within their property.
MGM doesnt even track and comp for sportswagers(supposedly they may if the wagers are $10K and up), and neither does the Wynn or Venetian.Comment -

#51The worse the economy goes...the tighter Vegas is on handing out any freebies/Comps. They will cater to those who bring in large money, and those that bet ashtray money will be lucky to get a Coke or Beer

Not sure if that's entirely true. In late 2008/2009 when the economic crisis was at the peak, the casinos were very generous(probably overly so) with comps.......Comment -

#57Depends...my girl worked at New York New York and they paid very little attention to comping at the Sportsbook unless you were throwing down $500-$1000 a game...but they were a little looser around the table games as they were tracking. She worked as a clerk setting markers for clients....and there were some funny stories like her having to call people's mom's for certain amounts etc.Originally posted by RealSlimShadyNot sure if that's entirely true.
