Fans are just mindless sheep. I can appreciate watching a sports match or whatever, but the whole notion of being a fan is just ridiculous. And I know I'll catch hell for this post too, because 99% of people here are fans.

You are just being mind controlled in order to pay these athletes' and owners' gigantic salaries (which they are STILL not appreciative of, ie NBA). If you like watching a sport, then fine, but what is the point of arbitrarily choosing a team and cheering for them like maniacs, or crying and rioting in the streets when they lose? People just pick teams based on where they're from, it's such arbitrary bullshit. Just writing this pisses me off, with the amount of mindlessness out there, unquestioning loyalty ugh.

Wow, so your home team wins a championship. YOU MOTHERFUKKER HOW DOES THAT CHANGE YOUR FUKKING LIFE. WHY THE FUKK ARE YOU HAPPY? THESE ATHLETES ARE LAUGHING AT YOU. 'Haha, look at this crowd of fans, we won the championship, we are getting the million$ bonus, and they're the ones cheering and chanting'.

And all this is coming from someone who grew up in Montreal, THE most fanatical city when it comes to hockey. It's just another one of those illogical phenomena that no one wants to talk about. They think because it's based on emotion, that it makes sense, but it's the opposite. Be a fukking mindless slave, and serve the masters.

finally, someone who gets it. iifold is right on. the players don't care if they win or not. sure, they like to win and they act like they want to win, but it's just to keep the fans coming and pay their salary's. it's basically show business and they have to play the role. i'd like to know what these fans in the stands are praying for. what if their team wins they can call up their relatives and brag about it. there was a time when winning a world series share meant extra money that was somewhat significant. but not today with the inflated salaries. players just want the season to end so they can go home. yes, there are a few exceptions but for the most part it's all an act. the sickest fans actually go these parades after the team wins a title. the poor players want nothing to do with it, but have to go through the motions.

Masu 100% right. I still root for my teams, but money takes precedent over everything. When I was a kid and my teams would lose in the playoffs, I wouldn't go to school for days. Once I got more into hardcore gambling, I could give a **** less. It's nice, but doesn't change a thing. Celebrations are good to let off a little steam
