How the hell did this get good ratings? It's one of those really strange/bad movies so people think it's cool i guess.

    NOTHING HAPPENS!

there is only ONE driving scene in the entire f'in movie

The whole movie is basically in slow motion and it's annoying and boring. Ryan Gosling has a very strange personality and pauses like every word when he's talking.

It's a terrible mob story with a very shitty storyline.

    DON'T GO TO IT!

Good review. Hollywood throwing Gosling in 30% of the movies, to pull in the chics.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

And what was with Pulp Fiction, there was neither pulp nor fiction, much less dime store novels? I saw no water storage in Reservoir Dogs. Very disappointing. Neither works of impressionist fiction nor their authors were in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. The chicks in American Beauty really weren't all that hot. And WTF was up with Brazil? That didn't look tropical at all.

Misleading titles really kill my enjoyment of films.

it is actually a very violent movie. the story and acting is just horrible though. I have no clue how it got 93%. I have yet to hear one person say a good thing about it

I said the same thing. I went with a friend, and she wanted to leave half way through the movie. I thought it was one of the worst movies in the past decade.

meh, never have had a problem with daimo. He is absolutely spot on about the only good part being the beginning scene though (which is pretty much the only scene where there is driving)

                                BORING?

y'all probably love movies like Transformers and National Treasure.

Drive is easily my favorite movie this year....and I'm not alone here, its already in the IMBD top 250, one of the best reviewed movies of the year, and it will be watched by people decades from now.

The Driver is one of the most bad ass characters ever. Right up there with the old Clint Eastwood movies.

Glad to see there is at least one person on here who isn't retarded. Drive is superb, the acting is first-class, Gosling and Pearlman are awesome. One of the best soundtracks ever and people who don't like this clearly don't understand and can't appreciate the intricacies of cinematography. LMAO at those moaning because there wasn't enough "driving" and car chases! Perhaps they should stick to bullshit Fast and Furious movies! Drive clearly isnt going to appeal to anybody with a low IQ!

Very disappointing movie, sub par acting, bad dialogue, flat one dimensional characters. The movie just drags and plods along, it does a poor job at building any real suspense and is very anticlimactic and predictable. The promotions department did a great job creating a buzz about this movie, too bad the filmmakers didn't live up to that hype. I really wish I had turned it off halfway through and at least salvaged some of that wasted time. If you like action movies, this isn't it, if you like well crafted stories, edge of your seat suspense and powerful acting performances, this isn't it either. Nothing to see here, stay away.

it was the direction and screenplay which were great.

Good news for those who disliked the movie but do enjoy wasting the time of the courts:

Woman Files Lawsuit Over ‘Misleading’ Trailer for Drive

A Michigan woman is suing FilmDistrict Distribution LLC, the outfit that distributed Drive, and the theater where she watched said Ryan Gosling action-drama thriller, all because the trailer had made it seem like the movie was gonna be just like Fast and Furious (not the gun-trafficking operation but the street-racing movie series) and it wasn't totally wasn't at all. WTF, LIARS.

As WDIV-TV in Detroit reports, Sarah Deming's suit claims that FilmDistrict and Emagine Novi Theater violated Michigan's Consumer Protection Act by releasing such a disingenuous advertisement for their driving-deficient crap-film. Drive "bore very little similarity to a chase, or race action film ... having very little driving in the motion picture," states the lawsuit (which also alleges anti-Semitism). Deming wants her money back, and also "an end to misleading trailers" so that the American people get the goddamn blood-pumping thrills they pay for. She reportedly plans to go class action-style, so if you've ever been lied to at the cinema you can join her Crusade for Integrity at the Movie Places and share in the settlement (which will be somewhere between $0 and $1 zillion).

Some people have suggested that Deming's lawsuit is frivolous or even stupid, but that's not true at all. If her suit succeeds, it could establish a precedent by which all movie distributors could face lawsuits for advertising terrible movies. This could put Hollywood out of business! Nothing wrong with that outcome.

You believe in it, you are loyal to it, would defend it, and yet have no proof of it, other than that, at one point or another, you chose to believe in it. Self-hypnosis. What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?

Drive was interesting because it had this retro Karate Kid kinda feel to it but the subject matter was very dark. I was better than most of the crap that gets put out these days.

It's sad that I even have to say this, but this thread is so lopsided I feel the need to weigh in on the side of sanity. Drive was an amazing movie. There are definitely some aspects worth critiquing, but hating it because it wasn't Fast/Furious 11 says more about the IQ of the viewer than the movie itself.

"You might hear one comparing this to a Tarantino film, but leave all worries at the door, this is an absorbing and tremendously unique piece of cinema from Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn. The reason it works so exquisitely well is because the film grabs hold of you and takes you inside this often dark and dream-like LA setting. So, when the end of the film hits, you feel apart of this film, and it's there to stay.

This film also offers a Ryan Gosling like you've never seen him, speaking only when necessary, with tension and fury in his eyes. He's silent, caring, and ridiculously tough. Every line is delivered perfectly and every gesture is natural.

I saw this at the LA Film Festival on a mammoth screen with booming speakers. The music only makes this film more unique. It is catchy and synchronized perfectly with the TRULY beautiful cinematography.

This film is the BEST of its genre. I honestly cannot compare it to any other film, for it is truly that different. "Drive" is already the best of the year, because I'm POSITIVE no other film will haunt and invade me quite like this film has. This is not just a classic for its genre, but a beautiful and bold classic in general."
