White Sox name Robin Ventura manager
Former Chicago White Sox All-Star Robin Ventura has been named the team’s 38th manager, the club announced today. Ventura agreed to terms with the White Sox on a multiyear deal.
“When I met with the media as our season ended, I identified one person at the very top of my managerial list,” said Ken Williams, White Sox general manager.
“I wanted someone who met very specific criteria centered around his leadership abilities. Robin Ventura was that man. His baseball knowledge and expertise, his professionalism, his familiarity with the White Sox and Chicago and his outstanding character make him absolutely the right person to lead our clubhouse and this organization into the seasons ahead.”
Ventura, 44, was hired by the White Sox as a special advisor to director of player development Buddy Bell on June 6, 2011. He now becomes the 17th former White Sox player to manage the club.

The Texas Rangers will put the Sox in a headlock and bang away everytime the two teams meet.

I hope Nolan runs out of the stands in Arlington and puts another hammering to that punk when the ChiSox visit the Rangers next year.

I'm surprised they didn't hire Terry Francona.

Has Ventura even coached a little league team? Maybe Ron Kittle can be bench coach.

The Sox won't beat the Nolan's Rangers. And if they do, knucksies for Ventura from the Express

With Greg Hibbard as pitching coach, while we are at it, let's name Ron Karkovice bullpen coach.

Didn't Nolan have a heart attack a few weeks back? All Ventura has to do is run and Nolan will eventually die chasing him.

Further solidifies my position that baseball managers are fairly irrelevant, when it comes to W/L record.

Gy with no experience gets a position with a major league team. Basically Ventura has held a figurehead position with the CWS, and was a color analyst since playing professionally. Only in baseball. Maybe in the NBA, and never in the NFL.
