Recovering Western Union Money?

Someone sent me money by ** with a fake name and lost the receipt. Is there any way to recover the money without the MTCN number?

no, it is not payment for anything it is from my friend. She said someone gave her a ride there left it in the car and then her friend can't find it. It is money to send to bodog, so i can get my money by transfer instead of waiting for a check.

I thought if you have the senders name and where it was sent from and you are the receiver with ID, you could get it.

if you are the reciever and you have id you dont need the mtcn number. One they can look it up by the senders phone number, they can look it up by the senders name and they can look it up by their zip code. she should of sent it to your name if not you cant pick it up. if she sent it to bodog then she will need to call ** and tell them she lost the receipt. they will ask her name which she will have to give them fact name, they will ask some verification questions, ie where did she send it from what time and what location, they will then give her the control number. if she cancels it she will not be able to pick it up because she will need id with that persons name on it to refund her money

i have used fake names to send ** about 3 million times. one time bookmaker could not pick it up because i had already sent one to that location that day and i couldnt get the refund because it wasnt my name so luckily another book used the same stuff and was able to deposit with them. also if you cancel the ** you lose the fees but can send off for them. rules are on the back of the statement.

I think they changed it recently that you need the number unless you use a security question. I know on the website you used to be able to track transfers by just entering the two names, but now you have to have the number.

Pick Up a Money Transfer

Make sure you know the money is ready before you try to pick it up. You can do this by contacting the sender or after checking the status of your money transfer online.

STEP 1: The Money Transfer Control Number
To pick up a money transfer, you need to make sure you have valid government-issued photo identification and know where to find a Western Union Agent location. The sender may also give you the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN), which you can give to the Agent when picking up the funds.


STEP 2: Visit an Agent Location
Proceed to your nearby Western Union Agent location to pick up your money.


STEP 3: Identify Yourself
At the Western Union Agent location, you’ll be asked to present valid government-issued photo identification and complete a "To Receive Money" form. If you have the MTCN number from the sender, present that, too, to the Agent.


STEP 4: Receive the Money
Once your identification has been checked, the money is yours. It's that easy!
