Here's vegas the last time I was there. I"m going to stand there and re take the picture.
BTW that was August 1985.

From what Ive read and watched, it will be within 100 years. Theres like a 6% chance it will happen within 20 years

Your new picture will be pretty disappointing. All that is there is construction right now. The Frontier is in shambles, about to be torn down completely, and the Echelon is being constructed where Stardust was. Heh... The Stardust tower wasn't even built yet in that picture and now its decimated. The Fashion Show Mall sign is a bit more colorful now, however.

Hey Illini,
How far of a drive is SB from Las Vegas? About 4.5 hours or so?

I understand the frontier sign is still there (even tho the hotel is gone). A lot changes in 20 or so years. It may be another 20 before I got back LOL. I was actually trying to get the temp on the fashion outlet mall sign (it was 125 F that day) when that picture was taken.

Yeah the sign is still there and part of the building still stands, barely. Ahh, 125. What a pleasant summer's day in Vegas.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but the Fashion "Square" Mall is still there.
Its right across the street from the Wynn. Lotta cool restaurants in that mall, a Puma store and a Starbucks among other things.
The Wynn is sweet. Great poker rate too.

Should I go take a up to date shot of that area?
That is funny to see the Fashion Show Mall so small looking.

I know. I've never seen a picture from that era. Most of the pics around Vegas are from the 50s and 60s. I didn't even realize the Fashion Show Mall was around then. Some serious remodelling went into that thing...

OnLooker if you want to post an up to date picture please do. I know I'll be shocked as I haven't been there since then.

Good stuff, 20Four7. About a year before that, I was out there helping my uncle move from LV back to TX. Funny thing is, Siegfried & Roy and Wayne Newton were working there then, and I guess they're still there today, so some things haven't changed at all
