We're 225 miles or so inland from the coast as the crow flies. Heard last weekend that the Gulf of Mexico isn't all that warm right now and the storm probably wouldn't intensify all that much. Now it looks like they're changing their minds on that. We need the rain bad, though I certainly don't wish any of the winds and stuff on my brothers and sisters from Galveston to South Padre.

Nothing like a good salty blow to really push the rattlesnakes to higher ground, crazy

Seriously, I've only come across four rattlers in the last six years. Three are no longer a threat to anyone. I'll post a photo of the one that we let live; bro-in-law said it was doing too good of a job keeping the mice and rats down.

Even that far inland you can still receive hurricane force winds. Been there done that quite a few times.

I live 10 miles inland of Galveston. So if it comes this way I am heading up to dallas or something. But not looking like it will.

At this point I think everyone in Texas would chance the wind if we could get the rain and a few days of break from the heat. Bring it on Dolly!
