Jason Taylor Dealt to Washington Redskins
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jason Taylor is leaving the only NFL team he’s known, going from the Miami Dolphins to the Washington Redskins in a trade Sunday.
The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round choice in 2010 for Taylor.
The six-time Pro Bowl defensive end—who was the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year—fell out of favor in Miami after spending his offseason on the TV show “Dancing With the Stars” rather than working out with teammates.
The deal came about nine hours after starting defensive end Phillip Daniels was carted away from the practice field at Redskins Park with a season-ending left knee injury on Day 1 of training camp.
It also came only about 1 1/2 hours after Washington executive vice president Vinny Cerrato told reporters: “We haven’t talked to anybody about anything.”

Cerrato said Taylor is expected to report to training camp on Monday.
“We’re fortunate there was a guy that caliber on the market when somebody got hurt,” Cerrato said. “Normally, in most years, there’s not a guy of that caliber on the market.”
The 33-year-old Taylor has played 11 NFL seasons and he’s started every game each of the past eight years.
He had 11 sacks during the 2007 season, giving him 117 over his career.
“His play speaks for itself. I think it’s easy to talk about Jason Taylor. He’s got statistics and everything else to back up everything that he’s done,” Cerrato said.
Taylor has said he planned to play only one more season.
But Cerrato said Taylor has two years left on his contract and added: “I’m 100 percent positive he’ll play longer than one year.”
The Dolphins declined comment even after the Redskins announced the deal.
“Right now we’re not prepared to confirm that,” Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said.

Says more about Bill Parcells than it does Jason Taylor.

i like it, cause i want a playoff team this fu*kin decade. hell give away all the draft picks and spend everybit of money allowed ,even defer payments ,structure contracts , whatever it takes, i don't care if we get a roster full of aging vets, just give me 1-2 play-off years, then dump them and rebuild for the next decade. i just want a good team to cheer for, damn i miss the 80's and very beginning of the 90's.

It's a good move for both teams. The skins will get a good player and the deadfins get a couple of draft picks eventually.

This will be really good for Taylor however, if Sportsgirl doesn't wear him out before the season starts. He gets to sack a couple of statues in Manning and whatever that dudes name is who was or is still banging that Simpson skank. He also gets to chase a hobbled McNabb around who refuses to run much any more in an effort to be a black quarterback who throws for a change. I predict that he gets 18 sacks this year.

                      Good move for both teams.

Bad luck for the Redskins being forced to make this trade due to their starting DE going down, but injuries happen, that's football. It's maybe fortunate that they could make a move, plus it happening this early in camp gives the team a chance to encorporate Taylor the best way possible. The Redskins maybe overpaid in terms of draft picks, but they absolutely had to make the move. They simply had to pay retail.

For the Dolphins, they are rid of the headache and have 2 draft picks in the bank. I didn't think they could swing a deal this sweet, but credit to Parcells for sticking to his guns.

The Redskins seem to be the WCW of the NFL. Everyone past their prime goes there. Its like a nursing home for christ's sake.

I think it was more a question of "fit" and "value".

The Dolphins are completely rebuilding. They are tearing down the old regime and building a whole new thing. It's the same thing as when he went to Dallas and sent Emmitt Smith packing. It wasn't that he didn't like Emmitt Smith or think that he couldn't still produce. It's more an exercise of changing the face of the franchise. How could he run the team in Dallas if he couldn't bench Emmitt or limit his carries or change his role or whatever? It's better just to get rid of him. Same with Taylor, who would have been out of place in a 3-4 defensive scheme anyway. When the Dolphins got an offer like they did from Washington, it's a no brainer for them.

Decent trade but not sold on Skins, I think they will have offensive problems this year with a sub par QB and overrated running game..

It's a good thing Taylor didn't play a generation back when they allowed chop blocks because he is Taylor made with his style to chop his quick legs from under him.

The Redskins overpaid like they always do....Snyder is probably offering the Packers 1st Round picks for the next 4 years for one year with Brett Favre. Being a Skins fan myself I am happy with the move, we definitely needed help up front and getting a player like Jason Taylor, in which I feel has a lot to prove, should have no problem with motivation thanks to Bill Parcells. These past few seasons the OL has been getting beat up in the preseason, I hope its not the DL turn.....GO SKINS!
