Why would anyone go to vegas to gamble. Better poker in la and in my area( sacramento) theres way easier money to be made than in vegas. I understand the offshore industry has gotten worse but id still rather gamble online than go to that city. Youll waste all your money partying. I go to vegas strictly to club and party. I can play 2/5 5/10 or 10/20 in sac anytime i want.

Pretty rough town that is just filled with sin. Just going to the casino is quickly losing it's appeal.
No doubt. Try working in one.

Stay away from the table games, no way to win. If you spend 6 hours a day capping you should do alright with college football and hockey. Stay away from Baseball and NFL = too tough. Get an early start on College Bball, could help out the BR.

Do most states have multiple card rooms these days? I no ca arz and nm do. This is in reference to my post above as to why would people move to vegas strictly to gamble.

He should move there and get a job and gamble recreationally
this is best advice ever... make sure your friend get a job 1st. just in case he blows his big chunk of money, he at least have a job to pay the bills. If I was in your situation, I would definitely go and have your parents take care of your dog. This is like once in a life opportunity. If you don't like vegas life, you can always come back to your real life and live with your dog again.
