Anyone ever get a kick out of looking who comes to perform at your local out of the way Indian casino?I live within radio market range of about 10 backwoods casinos and everyday you are bombarded with ads who will be coming to perform.Some of the performers you thought were dead or had to be 99 years old in a nursing home are still shamelessly performing even after they lost their voices and ability not to have to wear a diaper. They are like tubes of toothpaste with nothing left in them where they have to squeeze and squeeze to get their last performance out of them for a paycheck.They are the Steve De Berg's and George Blanda's of the entertainment world.
George Jones the legendary country performer falls into that category.When he was in his prime he was drunk all the time and cancelled concerts.He became known as No Show Jones.Now that he's an old washed up geezer,he performs every chance he gets no matter how off the beaten track the casino is.People that see him say he's just a shell of his former self as a singer.
They just had an ad on yesterday that Alice Cooper will be here soon.I guess he likes to golf so this place just opened up a tournament course with Indian Nota Begay coming for the grand opening so it's like a vacation for these washed up guys to get paid well and comped.
So,who is the king of washed up performers that plays this whole backwoods casino circuit?????The guy that was Herman in Herman's Hermits is everywhere.Usually there is one guy from the original band,sometimes just the drummer or some insignificant member and they still go by the original bands name.
