    Hi modelman-

What do you mean by limits?? I am actually going to be out there Aug 14-18 to look around and do some research. My ultimate goal is to basically have an investment firm that strictly deals with sports hedging. You don't think that is possible?

I talked to one of the top finance profs at Yale a few months ago and he wasn't sure of the legality behind it. You'd want to talk to a good lawyer first, especially if you plan on soliciting investments from people outside of Nevada.

I do think you'd run into problems because there are limits (yes, just like online). Plus if you bet more than $10K at a book on a given day, they take down your SS# and get your information for tax purposes.

That was definitely my plan but not on this trip. I wanted to talk to a good Vegas lawyer and tax consultant. They should know the ins and outs better than anyone one out here. Let's put it this way I would roll anywhere between $20 -35k in a given day but I would never bet over $5k on any given game. So that would be an issue?? That's seems like peanuts compared to what the high rollers do in Vegas. Would i have to play at multiple books to avoid any issues?? Do you mind if I visit you while in Vegas since you are pretty knowledgeable.

          Vegas bound?!

First...have you ever been to Vegas? How much of a bankroll are you planning on taking? If you want to make a living, you better take a lot of money with you to start. It's all about percentages and money management. It can be done...you can make a living, but it will not be easy. If you have enough money and you don't mind the stress, than knock yourself out. I'd go for a visit first. They don't call it the "City of Lost Wages" for nothing. Gambling can be lots of fun, but if you get serious, it's like a job and it's not so much fun anymore. Basically, whatever you want to make in a day or week...you're looking at about 3 percent of your bankroll. Say you take $100,000.00...you're looking at making $36,000 a year. The point is you have to be able to make bets off your bank roll that you don't care about. If you bet $10 and you're not checking the score every few seconds, than you're OK, but if your checking out the score every second, than maybe it's for fun, obsession or "the need to control the uncontrollable". But hey, if it's what you want to do, go for it and good luck!

The magic number is $10,000 per sportsbook per day. The high rollers hire runners to place bets for them (which seems like it could get awfully expensive). I would glad to meet with you when you come out here. I haven't been out here that long, but I do work for a company that makes the lines for most of the books out here, so I definitely get the insider perspective.

Thanks Max. You definitely sound like a VERY knowledgeable guy. You know that MONEY MANAGEMENT is very very important and "you believe that it can be done" and not a negative nay sayer. I have studied this for over 15 years including getting my a** kicked many times because I didn't understand a lot of things about wagering on games - I tried all kinds of theories, but I guess I learned the hard way at a big cost but it was well worth it!!! According to my past three years plays which I have fine tuned throughout each year. With a 100k investment and no stupid caps put on me at a VERY VERY conservative level I would make at least $300k a year. But I should have no problem making $600k. I have been making with a 10k investment consistently on average making $4800 a month. Heck I had two books cap me, hopefully I will get my last withdrawal which includes my original 10k investment. You do the math with 100k. That is why this thread was started!!

Yeah the Hilton provides the most options. Limits vary depending on the sport. No book in Vegas offers live betting, however.

Either way i will be checking out all the sportsbooks when I am out there to see what they offer etc. I just wanted to know what others have witnessed and maybe where I should start. Heading out on the 14th of Aug to check everything out before I amke the move. Thanks again guys

Thanks Durito. I think I will try one more onlinebook based on your guys' comments. I will try $10k one more time before I do anymore. Hopefully I have a good experience. One more bad experience or I start wasting my time with the book and that's it!! I hope the books you guys talk about are truly legit, it would make my life a lot easier. Thanks
