    Best Las Vegas Sportsbook
I am going to vegas 7/24-7/26 for the first time and I was wondering which sportsbook has the best baseball lines. Do the sportsbooks in vegas differ much or are they mostly the same? Am I better off just leaving my money in a betjamaica account and phoning in a bet instead of wagering at a vegas sportsbook?

An help would be greatly appreciated

You won't find a good LV sportsbook unless you're able to turn the clock back 10 years.

Use your usual outs and enjoy yourself.

Hi- I live here in Vegas and I'd take a good look at the Hilton's "Superbook" It's the place to be for football, I'm sure it's right up there for baseball. The Station Casinos can be sleepers, off the Strip . Palace Station at the corner of Sahara and 15 freeway, not far West of Strip. GL

Hilton LV, Leroys (located at several smaller casinos) and South Point are all good options for baseball. Hilton will offer the most in terms of props and alt. run lines. All three offer 5 inning lines and 10 cent juice, so they are comparable to Bet Jam. None of them are really the greatest for watching a game, however. Many books you need to give the cocktail waitress drink tickets to get free drinks and they generally only give you a couple with each bet. Bellagio and Hilton offer free drinks without drink tickets. The TVs at the Hilton are pretty old and outdated though. Bellagio is probably the best place to watch your games if you want a few drinks too. If you don't care about drinking or don't care if you pay for drinks, then MGM, Caesars, or Planet Hollywood would be my recommendations to watch the games...

Good books for baseball (10-cent lines) are:

Coast Properties (Gold Coast is close to the strip)
            Station Properties
            Hilton
Wynn (your best bet on the strip)
Leroy's (Hooters, Tropicana, Sahara among many others)

Most of these have $3k limits on sides. Less on totals.
Stratosphere has a dime-line also, but $1k limit on sides.

Coast and Station don't offer 5 inning lines though, Mr. X. Station does for some games but not all. That's a big drawback, IMO.

When betting in Vegas, what is the win amount that triggers tax? Also, does this amount only get taxed when a single bet goes over the threshold or does this happen when you cash multiple tickets for smaller amount but over the threshold in total?

IRS form W-2G is required when you win a 300-1 odds. So if you win say $5000 on a $10 parlay, you'll have to fill out the tax form. But if you bet $5500 and win $5000, you wouldn't.

A single wager of over $10k requires you to fill out a 6A IRS form. Otherwise, any 300:1 winner or higher requires a W2G. Both of these are reported to the IRS and need to be included with your tax returns. As long as you are a U.S. citizen and provide your social security number, you are given the entire amount in winnings. If you are a foreign citizen or don't provide your social, 30% is withheld for tax purposes. Any wins or wagers below that remain under the radar for the most part. Many casinos for wagers over $1k or so, now require the use of your players card. This is another method the IRS can use to track your winnings...

Thanks for all the repsonses. A follow up question that I forgot to ask was which vegas sportsbook gives the best comps for sportsbook wagers and are sportsbook wagers comped more or less per dollar wagered than slots and table games?

According to what i have heard from different sources the only game in town is with the independent sportsbooks !These are the last places in Vegas Apparently where you can bet big on the NFL & NBA without being f*ck around with.
Leroy's boss Vic Celermo is on record saying that they will take 10k NFL and between 2.5 to 5k on the NBA all the time.
I am routing for Jimmy Vaccaro!!!!
he said that he took the job with the understanding that he was going to be known as someone that will not refuse a bet.If HE SUCCEED the rest will have to follow and old Vegas will be back.

I wouldn't be expecting too many comps... if you get a drink coupon you will be doing good... most casinos view sportsbooks as a service to their customers and something required to compete with the casinos sitting on both sides of them... most would prefer to fill the rooms with slots or pit games instead of individuals hanging around watching games... this is why you see the outsourcing to independents such a leroys etc...

I asked about a comp once and they said $10,000 before they'd comp a buffet. I didn't play for comps so I didn't care.

I can understand why they are so tight tho. Sports betting is the only game without a built-in house edge. Anyone can theoretically win 100 bets in a row by using ur head instead of depending on the luck of the cards or dice.
