How great of a story is David Duvall this week?
He has a shot at being tied for the lead in the OPEN on Saturday!

This guy has been through alot in the past 10 years. Does anyone him VS Tiger in that primetime event years ago?

he did this two years ago at the US Open, leading on friday, finished top 20 after missing 19/20 cuts the year before. i thought that'd be the kicker that got him going, but he fell right back into the miss most cut routine this year.

i don't think he really cares. he's much happier than when he was dominating the tour

      Duvall was another Tod Marinovich?

Somewhere I heard that Duvall had an old man like Tod Marinovich had where from day one he was forced into golf and wasn't able to do kid things and such.Like most Hollywood kids that are treated that way by stage parents, stuff usually goes wrong. You get psycho problems, drug problems, you name it!

The thing is with Duvall,he made an absolute ton of money when he was really young. When things weren't fun anymore in golf and when he lost his game,he should have just retired from life.Go out and enjoy all there is to see in the world.Don't worry about your bad childhood where daddy never let you eat a twinkie or a Bic Mac.Screw your old man!Big deal if you never talk to him again. Why have it ruin your life where you are like Tony Soprano going to shrinks everyday and getting panic attacks. Hell, tell the old man thanks that you made a few million bucks because of him and slip him a mill for his troubles and tell him to get lost.

The best reality check would have been for Duvall to see how a vast majority of people in this country live driving through ghettos to get to work, having their wife cheat on them and run up credit cards and how you are never able to see your kids because you are working all the time. All that Jim Nantz special story crybaby crap where you hear the plight of a troubled man like Duvall doesn't cut it with me.

Duvall should just go out and have fun golfing and if it means not making a cut or being in the hunt on the final day of a tournament,so be it.As a rich and healthy individual like Duvall,my life certainly wouldn't revolve around winning a friggin tournament.

I just did a Google search on Duvall,Yup,his dad and his mom were overbearing parents it said..They say Eric Lindross the hockey players parents were the worst overbearing parents of all time. They used to call the GM during the game from the stands complaining about how Eric was being played and such.Bobby Clark got into fist fights nearly with them during games it was so bad.

Anyone remember 1999 when he shot 60 on the final day of a tournament and actually had a putt for 59?

I stand corrected! The thing about Duval was that he was one of the only players on the tour who wasn't scared of Tiger, if only he could have stayed around it would have been an incredible time for golf. It wouldn't surprise me if Tiger is sat in Florida rootig for him like the rest of us.
