Hearing that the Phillies got Joe Blanton from Oakland..Anybody has details ? Is this how Philly competes with Cubs and Brewers ??

It should help. Outside of Hamels, their rotation was pretty average. They don't really need help in their lineup anyway...

i got no problem with that pickup. the guy is MILES better than eaton. i think phils win the division for sure

I agree Ryan, he is a solid number 3 starter.

Even with Blanton they don't have much starting pitching, but their whole staff are decent innings eaters at least, which keeps the bullpen fresh. I don't know how far they can go in the playoffs like that, but they at least make the playoffs.

exactly. and remember, replcing eaton with blanton could be a 3 game swing for that team. and they are probably only 3-4 wins better than nym, if that, right now

The thing I dont like about Blanton, is that the guy can cruise through 4 innings without a hit allowed, as soon as he gets a runner on, his slide step to the plate sucks. He grooves pitches, and that may hurt him more in Philly, a much smaller park than Oakland.

Phillies need to compete with Mets and Marlins first. They will finish 3rd in their division.
