Sources: Pack say Vikes tampered with Favre
As the days roll by, the Brett Favre saga seems to get stranger and stranger. Now the soap opera has shifted to a new level.

Brett Favre, in Vikings uniform Brett Favre as a Viking? If you're in tune to the rumor mill, you know it's a possibility. Where else could the Packer legend end up? Alex Marvez runs down the list of contenders HERE.

In the latest twist, the Packers have filed tampering charges with the league office against the Minnesota Vikings for alleged communication with Favre, still technically a member of Green Bay, FOXSports.com has learned. The league, according to a source, is currently in information-gathering mode, speaking to members of both teams.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told The Associated Press that the league had no public comment on the report. Packers general manager Ted Thompson declined to comment on tampering rumors in an interview with the AP on Saturday.

The Vikings were informed late last week that the allegation is that Favre has had inappropriate dialogue with Minnesota offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, a close Favre friend and former assistant coach with the Packers. Favre has sought his release from Green Bay and several rumors have swirled that Minnesota is his targeted landing place, largely due to his relationship with Bevell.

I think they are pissed because he said he would retire too early and now he wants to come back. Before he would always leave the door a little bit open for a decision later. He said way too early this time that he was going to retire and they went out and got players to fill the position in the draft. They probably knew that he would have second thoughts like every other year. But he can't just say this so late in the year that he is having second thoughts. It puts the team in a bad position and a bad light.

        My Two Cents

Brett Favre is a fag. This guy has the worlds biggest ego. Yeah, he had a good season last year....but the two prior seasons.....wasn't that good. It's all about Brett in his mind, always has been always will. He's a legend in his own mind.

"I don't feel welcome in Green Bay".....the nevrve of this guy. He's held the Packers franchise hostage the last three years.

Grow up Brett. Make a choice and stick to it. You going to 39 years old this year. Grow up.

Eli didn't cry about it at a presss conference. Eli didn't claim retirement 8 different times.

What makes this guy a legend? How many seasons did he play......and how many Superbowl victories did he lead his team to?

So he's got a million passing yards.....and a million picks to boot. I was never impressed with the longevity hype. Same with Cal Ripken.......rewarded for playing everyday....who cares?

Bretts big baby attitude sucks and it is now overshadowing what ever "great" things this guy did. I hope he goes to another team and gets his a$$ kicked. The guy is an attention whore. Just go away already.

So did John Elway...before he signed a contract. That little contract thing and the rules that go with it might be the reason why Favre doesn't have that sort of leverage. I don't have anything against Brett Favre, but his own indecision and/or ego are what's coming back to bite him on the rump right now, and I have no sympathy for his current plight. He sh¡t in his own bed, and should be man enough to lay in it now.

Vikings @ GB in first MNF game of season. Would be great to see Favre in purple.

If Favre wants to play the fans deserve to see him play. I really don't care about who's done what or who likes who. It's about the fans first.

I agree 100%, and I bleed Green & Gold and have supported Favre through all of his off-the-field stupidity over the years. This last one is impossible to support. I mean, he called the press conference and announced his retirement to everyone and did the media circuit. Now he changes his mind, and blames the Packers for pressuring him?! It's like WTF dude. Just be a man and quit being a baby.

That said, Ted Thompson needs to be a good parent. Burp the baby(make a private appeal to Favre), change his diapers(smooth it over in the media), put on his pajamas (Packers uniform) and put him in his playpen (Lambeau Field). Thompson has to cut his losses and start Favre week 1, which is what will happen when cooler heads finally prevail.
