Luck is much more important than handicapping "skill"
My wife and I just built our home---and now my brother/law visits every single weekend to watch the games with me.

I spend a few hours each week---trying to find my spots----and I only bet on college football.

My brother/law walks in---opens up the newspaper, reads the lines and then makes his bets.

    Get this.

He bets Buffalo on the ML---and needed a f'in miracle to hit that bet. Then he took Dallas ML, and needed a miracle to win that.

He closed his shitty run with Atlanta 1st half. Eagles winning 10-7---driving with less than 230 to play in the half. Vick fumbles, Atlanta recovers and gets a late td to go up 14-10 at the half.

Luck, luck, luck. Meanwhile----earlier this week I played Iowa -4 vs. Pitt----the number drops to 3---and I was going to buy even more at -3, but a client called me early Saturday and I didn't get to.

    So I pushed at -4.

    Effin-A Cotton, Effin A.

I rather be lucky. Put it this way ... if you flipped a coin 100X it should be 50 times heads and 50 times tails but I doubt it will. So if we bet on if tails or heads will win, you need luck to have it go your way. If you bet a lot of sports every week and month, the same analogy works.

just like poker, luck plays a part, but you need the skill in the long-run

            Marty-

That bro-in-law of yours sounds like a real a**hole!

Just kiddin', pal. I have one too, and his luck seems to run like this as well. Must be a bro-in-law thing....

Op, I'm telling ya.... This guy picked Atlanta because "They're due", and he liked Dallas ML today because Mike Singletary can't coach----I told him Jim Harbaugh is now the 49ers coach and he said "he'll need 3 years to learn how to be a pro coach"

                Its all luck

no one can handicap turnovers and that is what most covers come down too

Yah well, my wife frequently decides who is going to cover based on who has prettier uniforms, or when they show the players on the screen, she'll go with the team with the "hottest players". And damnit, she seems to get it right more often than I do!
