#2I contacted the SBR folks a couple of days ago to inquire about starting a SBR Member Fantasy Football League. I inquired about what level of participation that SBR wanted to have, if any, and should be getting a reply soon. At absolute minimum, I could see where Fantasy League News Stories and Standings and such get posted here, if nothing else.
I'll keep you posted when I hear something official.Comment -

#3I remember a couple posters threw together a for fun league on Yahoo, it wasn't really very popular. Maybe something the guys throw together that can be hosted on a better server like CBS or something could be more enjoyable, with a monetary prize of course. Typically contestants pay a small fee to enter those contests, since there are a limited number of entries.Comment -

#5My idea is 150-200/team, live online draft utilizing CBS Sportsline. I have an entire league Constitution ready to go, but I am working to see if SBR would be interested in promoting it, sweetening the pot, or at minimum allowing me to publicize the league news and standings via the forum.
I'm the commish of a couple of fantasy leagues and put a good amount of effort into it. I'll keep you posted on this as SBR gets back to me.Comment -

#6Mtneer, the last draft we played in the guy who organized it "luckily" got 1st overall pick. It was on Yahoo though. I think a third party should set the league up in that case.Comment -

And as for free-agent pickups, the waiver wire order is weekly based on worst-to-first standings. The website processes all claims.
It is not that hard, guys. You just have to have someone who doesn't even allow the appearance of impropriety to seep in. I know how to keep it all above-board.Comment -

#10Yes -- Head to Head, 13 or 14 week schedule, Playoffs, No week 17 games.
In addition, there are weekly bounties for high team and player -- keeps everybody active and submitting a lineup.
I have the whole thing written out, and use it for my other league which is 5 years old and has retained 10 of 12 owners for all five years. I would use that successful league as a blueprint for this one. I am waiting to see if SBR wanted to have any participation before I publish everything on here.
I am headed back to work -- lunchbreak is over. Catch y'all this evening.Comment -

#14OK Fantasy Fans -- I have a league Constituition made out. Cost of the league will be $150. Draft order will be determined by a Powerball Lottery Drawing about a week before the draft. I will be participating and acting as league commissioner. Fees will also be held by me. All of my contact information will be available to all League Owners, so if you are afraid I will abscond with the money, please don't play. League payments will be made by paypal, unless otherwise arranged with me. The league is open to my fellow SBR Forum members. 12 teams will be about right, but I will adjust it depending on the amount of interest. I will be posting standings, rosters, and news stories weekly in the SBR Forum. Please note that SBR will not settle any disputes, or act as a mediator in league disagreements for this league.
DRAFT WILL BE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 8PM EDT.
Unofficial SBR Fantasy League Rules 2008*
I. Overview
The league will consist of an even number of teams from 6 to 16 owners. There will be 13-14 weeks of the regular season followed by 2-3 weeks of playoffs. Each owner will select a roster of 16 players, and can make roster adjustments by signing free agents or trading with other owners. The league champion will be determined by a playoff at the end of the season. Any rule not covered in this rule sheet may be brought up for a vote.
II. Draft
Draft order will be randomly chosen. If there are 12 teams, Team 1 will have the 1st and 24th picks, Team 2 will have the 2nd and 23rd picks, etc……. Team 12 will have the 12th and 13th picks. The snake order draft will continue through the end of the draft. Draft order can be traded before the draft begins, but players may not be traded until the draft is over. There will be 16 rounds.
III. Positions
Any player whose position is in question will be determined by the team’s website on NFL.com
IV. Lineups
Weekly starting lineups will consist of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, and 1 other player (called a bonus player) that can be any position (including DEF or K). The owner is responsible for changing his lineup on the website.
V. Scoring
6 pts = Passing TD 1 pt = Every 25yds Passing
6 pts = Rushing TD 1 pt = Every 10yds Rushing
6 pts = Receiving TD 1 pt = Every 10yds Receiving
6 pts = Defensive/Return TD 1 pt = Every Def. Sack
2 pts = All 2pt Conversions 2 pt = Every Def. Interception
1 pt. = Extra Point 2 pt = Every Def. Fumble Recovery
3 pts = FG 0-39 yds 14 pts = Def. Shutout
4 pts = FG 40-49 yds 10 pts = Holding opponents 1-7 pts
5 pts = FG 50+ yds 7 pts = Holding opponents 8-13 pts
2 pts = Safety 3 pts = Holding opponents 14-20 pts
VI. Trades
Trades must involve even numbers of players (i.e. 2 for 2, 3 for 3, 1 for 1, 8 for 8, etc.) Trades may occur anytime from immediately following the auction until lineup submission time in Week 10. After week 10, there will be no trades. All trades are subject to a three-man trade committee vote.
VII. Player Pickups
A. Unrestricted Free Agents
Players not on any roster are considered unrestricted free agents. A team may add any unrestricted free agent at any time during the regular season. Free agents are considered first-come first-served additions.
B. Waivers
Players that are released are considered ‘on waivers’ until the following week. A team may claim a player on waivers, however, if multiple teams claim a player, then the team that is highest on the waiver order will be awarded that player. Once a team is awarded a waived player, they will fall to the end of the list for waiver order. CBS Sportsline.com will track the waiver wire order.
VIII. Standings, Playoffs, and Tiebreakers
The following applies to a 12-team league. Rules will be adjusted for more or less teams.
Teams will be randomly placed in 3 divisions. The three division winners and one additional wildcard team (non-division winning team with best record) will qualify for the playoffs. Seed #1 will play the wildcard, and Seed #2 will play Seed #3, with the champions meeting in the Super Bowl, and the losers meeting in the Consolation Bowl. The other 8 non-qualifying teams will play week 15, with the two highest scoring teams of the eight non-qualifiers meeting in Week 16’s Scrub Bowl. Tiebreakers in standings will be determined by 1) Overall record 2) Total Points Scored 3) Head-to-Head record 4) Total Points Allowed (Highest Scoring Margin, PF vs. PA) 5) Coin Toss. Ties within a division will be broken before wildcard ties will be broken.
IX. Fees and Payouts
The following applies to a 12-team league. Payoffs will be adjusted for more or less teams. Each team will pay $150. The following is the breakdown for fees and payouts:
12 teams @ $150 = $1800 total collection
$150 = Sportsline fee, mailing fee, bank fees, admin costs
$600 = Super Bowl Winner
$300 = Super Bowl Loser
$175 = 3rd Place
$100 = 4th Place
$75 = Consolation Bowl Winner (5-8)
$50 = Scrub Bowl Winner (9-12)
$350 = Weekly awards ($25 Weekly High Team Points)Comment -

#22i have some interest and may sound out of line but should $125 really go towards teams that suck?
$75 = Consolation Bowl Winner (5-8)
$50 = Scrub Bowl Winner (9-12)
They have chances to win the weekly award which I like but paying them just so they dont lose interest the last week or two doesn't seem reasonable. Again, not trying to tell you how to run things...just my thoughts.
I will let you know more firmly end of the week if spots are still open.Comment -
