Not only that, he hated all of the mid-majors. I'm glad he's gone.

It's about time Packer is gone.

I love College Basketball, but he made it hard to enjoy with his horrible color work.

I dont mind kellogg. Personally, I would have gone with Gus Johnson - who is by far my favorite of the crew - but his head might burst from all the excitement. Hey things could be worse, imagine if Dick Vitale joined CBS.

I like to refer to Billy Packer as the greatest coach that never coached, you would think he has never made a mistake in his life the way he calls games. Your team can be up 20 playing its best basketball of the year, by the time the game is over he will have nitpicked and criticized every mistake to the point he will have you thinking everything you just witnessed was an accident. It's always "thats not the way I would do it" guess what Billy nobody cares....you did as much for college basketball as Shawn Kemp did.

Packer is legit. Why all the packer hate? I'm sure listening to Packer as your money is falling through your fingers is not the most fun thing to do, but he knew what he was doing. Kellog is a moron.

Did he quit or did CBS fire him? As much as I don't like him, I can't see CBS firing him.

CBS analyst Billy Packer's streak of Final Fours is over after 34 years.

From my understanding of what ive heard on radio and what im reading here, is that it was determined over a year ago that Kellogg was gonna replace Packer for this years finals but that this information was just recently made public. Ive also read a rumor that CBS got pissed at his calling of the Kansas-UNC game during the first half and that was the straw that broke the camels back. If you remember Kansas blew them out, and Packer kept turning phrases akin to "this game is over" a quarter of the way through the game. Obviously, not the way to maintain viewer-ship.

I didn't dislike Packer that much, but the bottom line is, he's been there too long and he's too old. These guys never know when to step away, just like athletes.

Look at Keith Jackson. Stayed too long and had to be booted. Dick Enberg the same way. CBS keeps demoting him to the worst games and yet he still won't quit. Dick Enberg doing Thanksgiving Day games on the radio the last few seasons. Geez, retire already. They just can't quit.

i know i'm in the minority but i felt packer did a nice job as the color guy on college hoops, at least i for one enjoyed his analysis and the fact he never seemed to over-dramatacize the moment, i like clark kellogg too, but i think people will miss packer more than they realize, kellogg is a lot more like nantz, kinda laid back, i thought packer was a nice complement to nantz's style
