Being an OU alumni, I have followed the program for a while and attended a lot of games, including some of our choke jobs. Boise State anyone???
As for the game, people are crazy if they think OU will blow out Florida State. I will be extremely happy if they do but I just don't see it happening. I'm not sure why anyone would think this based on some recent trends regarding OU's play on the road. Take these series for example.
OU beats Oregon 31-7 at home.
OU goes to Oregon and loses.
OU beats UCLA 59-24.
OU goes to UCLA and loses 41-24.
OU beats undefeated #2 Texas Tech 65-21.
OU goes to Tech and lose 41-13.
OU beats Miami 51-13.
OU goes to Miami and loses.
OU beats Texas A&M 65-10.
OU goes to A&M and loses 33-19
In many cases, OU absolutely destroys teams at home and then goes on the road the following year and loses! To add to that, Florida State will be the better and ranked higher than any of these teams that we have lost to on the road.
OU has lost Austin Box, who tragically passed away, and Travis Lewis who was injured in pre-season practice. Travis Lewis was the best player on defense and a leader on the team. This is a huge loss for OU especially when going up against a mobile EJ Manuel.
This game is going to be extremely tough for OU to win. To me it's about a coin flip and I will not be surprised if we lose. Better OU teams have lost to worse teams than this Florida State bunch we will see Saturday.Comment -
Oklahoma got an extra week of preparation. It will only be a blowout because of Florida State's offensive ineptitude. I rate both defenses very high.Comment -
I don't see how anybody thinks this will be a great bet either way. If FSU hits 4 or above, I'll make a wager on them but this game is going to be a high volume game and there just won't be much value (like most every other high volume games)Comment
