jj, the money you saved on a hotel by going to East End, you paid it in the taxi.. a taxi to downtown mtl costs you 30.. i taxi to east end costs you 90.. so you just paid an extra 120 bucks both ways. you could have stayed at a 5 star hotel for the extra 120..

jj, wtf you doing in the east end. you have nothing there. if you want to go downtown, you now have to pay another 50 bucks in taxi each way.. you just cost yourself big by going to the ghetto in the east end, where it's all frenchies and very poor people. downtown mtl is the place to be. not a smart move by you jj..jj, you are in the furthest east you can be from mtl.. terrible move jj..

jj, go to schwartz tomorrow on st lawrence street, and have a smoked meat.. you wont believe your taste buds. Famous Dunn's smoked meat ain't bad either. JJ, try also restaurant PFK, great chicken.. too bad you weren't there last week, you would have seen the famous Montreal Jazz Festival.. JJ, the girls there are unreal.. montreal is the greatest city in the world.. that's where Guy Lafleur, my idol, played.. JJ, go to Old Montreal. the most beautiful place you can see. great restaurants there too..

jj,call me later on.. i saw your number on the screen from a 514 number. sorry i missed it. i called back and it was the hotel wandlyn.. they told me you weren't in your room.. so call me back when you have a chance.

enjoy montreal.. the greatest city in the world.. you lucky bastard. i wish i was there now.. i miss that town..

I've got $100 that say he was summoned there for some low-rent corpo "convention". Very small-time of you, JJ. Wandlyn.

It might've been be the only choice he had if he really booked his room at the last minute, but I'm not buying it. That part of town simply does not exist to non-locals. Tourists and businessmen even resort to youth hostels around here (Downtown/Plateau) before they even think of going East of St-Laurent.

        matty,

we are not even talking east of st lawrence, like Papineau, or berri, or laurier, or even viau.. or pie ix.. we are talking the east of the east here, past the refineries and all.. way past the BIG O.. ex home of the expos..no one goes there ever.. only the real frenchies, who drink their cases of labatt bleu.. jj will really feel uncomfortable there.. he might even be nervous. i dont think there are even any english there.

he is a good 1 hr and 20 min from airport.. whereas downtown, he is only 16 min from airport..

jj is a nut..all this matty for saving 25 bucks.. it ended up costing him an extra 200 here.

jj, stop being cheap all your life, you bet dimes every game, and you cheaped out on an extra 20 bucks a night hotel..

there's nothing down there in east montreal.. jj, east montreal is equivalent to east LA. or east STL.. it's a scary part of the town, but instead of tyrone, jeremiah and leroy, you have jean guy, sylvain, and michel... with tattoos, a mullet, and a labatt blue in their hand..

I know Nicky, I'm a product of that area... grew up right next to the refineries on Notre-Dame and my Mom still lives there. And yes, the mullet, wifebeater and Labatt (I believe they still sell Labatt 50 in the area) are still very much a hit there. S'not really scary though - very poor but much less criminal than Montreal-Nord, among others.

JJ would fit well with the crowd if he knew some French. He's sort of the Jersey equivalent of a Jean-Guy drinking his Labatt on his balcony on a Saturday night.

matty, es tu francais canadien? are you in montreal right now? cause you write you are from montreal, but you said you used to live there.. where are you now?

jj would not be the equivalent of a jean guy on his balcony drinking his labatt 50...

jj is not much of a drinker, doesn't have any tattoos, or a mullet. i would say JJ is the equivalent of a Jean Guy Pepin, who sits in his balcony like a quebecois and has a pepsi, and may west..

those frenchmens love the pepsi and may west.

in montreal, the frenchies are stereotyped. they are usually called Jean Guy's and they are usually about 5'3, 110 lbs, drink a case of labatt 50 on their balconies on sat night, have long hair down to their spine, short short hair in the front, and have tattoos..

man, i love montreal. i wish i was there now.. what a town matty, what a town..

matty, enjoy it and consider yourself lucky to be in montreal at the best time right now.. mid JULY.. the peak of summer. what a town..

matty, where are you now, West Island in montreal, or NDG, ville emard, lasalle, mtl nord.. where are you matty?

Yup, québécois/montréalais "pure laine", and I'm actually on the very same street as JJ's hotel, very close to St-Laurent. Plateau meets downtown. Absolutely love it, though I'm getting the itch to move someplace else for a year or two... never left the city for more than a couple weeks at a time.

              You from here too?

i used to have some gambler friends living in montreal, and i used to visit them, and also went on business there a few times. i have spent many many days in beautiful montreal.. the greatest city in canada, hands down.. the night clubs are great.. crescent street, st lawrence street at night, near prince arthur. the city is happening at 4 am.. the city never sleeps.. not like toronto, where at 1am, downtown is deserted and eveyrone's sleeping. bars close early in toronto, montreal closes bars at 3 am and later. sick gambler the poster is from montreal and i have visited him a few times there too.. we were close. me, jj and sick g had dinner a few times and went to strip joints together in mtl. i thought for a minute you were the real sick gambler, cause he was from montreal, and you're the only one from montreal.. matty, i know mtl inside out.. i mean it,, inside out..

I must say matty, you speak pretty good english for a quebecois. no mistakes at all. you're probably the only french canadian to ever post in a gambling forum, in the history of forums. good job..
