    Chalk and Unit Question
    Hey guys,

It seems when I am betting sports, I never can bring myself to bet higher than -150, even if I see solid value in it. I always get suckered in to the run line in baseball when I suppose I should just leave some games un-bet or stick to the ML...

    My questions are,

    1) What is an acceptable amount of chalk you are willing to lay on any given game,

    2) If my unit size is $100, is that to win or to wager? If I like a game at -130 should I be betting 1 unit at 130 or 1 unit at 100?

I would never bet over -170...no rational. and my units are always the same regardless of odds ... same goes for dogs. Just how I do things...

      1) If there is value I think there is no amount of juice you shouldn't pay. With that being said. I think more often than not if it isn't a huge advantage in your eyes it should be a no play between 180-275 moneylines. I think under 180 you shouldn't be scared to pull the trigger on a game with an advantage.
      2) Units are cut and dry with Football and basketball. I feel that in baseball winning a unit on a moneyline favorite is still betting a unit. IMO.

          Exactly.

Just bet wherever value takes you, the gambling gods control the rest.

You should be betting 130 at -130 just like you should be betting 50 at +200 given you believe the edge to be the same for both.

The amount I'm willing to lay depends on TVM issues more than anything.

              1) The juice is almost ALWAYS less on large ML favorites/dogs than on -110/110.

              2) Large favorites are preferable bets to large dogs with the same edge or even less of an edge.

No matter how many times people want to post this, it's still not true.
