I just finished my first contest. I have to say it was quite entertaining. Fortunately, I came out on top. However, the poster that I beat was not good for the money ($100) and in addition to not paying, actually attempted to borrow money from me after he lost. So my question is, are you guys actually getting paid in these things? Or are they lose-lose scenarios? What methods, if any, are being employed by some of you to ensure payment at the outcome of the challenges?

#2Only way to do them is get a third party to set up the game on matchbook and have both people in the contest bet the set amount on themselves. Matchbook gets a small commission but its the only way to do it right.Comment -

#3I don't think anyone's been doing it, but if you want to ensure getting paid, set it up as an X-Event at Matchbook and have a third party grade it.Comment -

#4The user vs user challenges are play at your own risk. I'm certain SBR wouldn't advise you to play one without an escrow of some sort to prevent getting freerolled by someone. I'd just urge you or anyone to be more mindful of how you set them up, ie what Mr. X suggested or something along those lines, otherwise it's play at your own risk.Comment -

When I see a poster challenge someone to a contest, I'll often times volunteer to grade just because I want to enable others to have fun, it's just unfortunate that some people enter to freeroll.
Perhaps in the future one should only enter a heads up challenge with someone that's been around SBR a while or that they trust.Comment -

#7I would never even think about doing this unless it was set up with matchbook or something just like it. I know I would pay but who knows about anyone else. I would actually go heads up on a weekly basis with posters if it was done correctly..המוסד

#8Originally posted by crazylI do feel bad for M0nkey here, because I think he's a good guy who would have paid had he lost, but unfortunately as you said sometimes people with less than stellar intentions enter them.

#12I'll go head-2-head for some food stamps or one of those $6 steaks Richkas was touting on July 4th. I promise, I have the steak in a store somewhere in the U.S.Comment
