    Quitting smoking...
I've been reading up on it and, apparently, it is bad for you?

Just chained smoked the last couple of cigs in my pack to get rid of these evil things...

Good luck. Are you going cold turkey or are you gonna ease into it with gum, patches, or an e cig?

Im sure you have tried to quit before and know how tough the first few days are. Proud to say that I haven't smoked once in the last 5 months

I tried all of the above and wasn't a big fan so doing the cold turkey method... Only times I had any success was when it forced on me (joining the military so probably not a viable option) and after reading Allen Carr's book...

I have his book on audiotape so I think I might relisten to it tonight while I do some other work...

This in the one vice I just couldn't break the habit of gentlemen. I stop drinking, lost all the weight but never could quit smoking unfortunately. Maybe the coach can give me some advice on this subject via a video?

You should try reading this book.

Easy way to stop smoking - Allen Carr

I smoked 1 1/2 - 2 packs a day for 16 yrs and this book helped me quit.

                    quit smoking 5 years ago

all I can say is tough it out, its hard at first but every day that goes it becomes easier, and at some point it would be like you have never smoked, I get no cravings any more, I actually wonder now why in the hell I started that disgusting habit

just recently quit quitting after being off them for 3 months or so. have also quit for 7 months, 2 months, 5 weeks, 12 days...but its hard to not drift back.

guess ill try again soon. not making excuses but gambling and drinking does not help at all.

also- not sure if someone said it yet but the first 3-4 days is pretty f*cked up then once it gets out of your system, its about 8 times easier after you pass that threshold.

Smoked for 17 years and quit 7 and a half months ago cold turkey, did the patches for like 5 weeks and then just stopped wearing them, had cravings once or twice a day for a few weeks after stopping the patches and now get a small craving once a month if even that frequent, wife still smokes in front of me and everything too, it doesnt bother me. Good luck bud.

Good luck Herbie. Been there. quit three years ago after 22 years of 1-3 packs a day. I still use the commits (3-4 a day, nice crutch when out with the drinking/smoking/golfing buddies)and even though I relapsed in Costa Rica (when in Rome I suppose) I didn't take up the habit again. You can do it and you'll feel a 1000% better every day. I can breathe again, I don't cough every 5 minutes and climb stairs without stopping and I am way more active and I didn't gain much weight. It is hard as hell though I offer you a world of support. It is definitely worth doing.

I used the patches. Buy the name brand. Generic don't work.

Get rid of everything smoking related. Ashtrays, butts, etc.

Put the patch on in the morning, not before bed. Very vivid bad dreams.
Even with the patch, you will be irritable. I used St. John's Wort (herb) to get rid of irritability.
Use the patch as directed and to the end. Wal-mart has the best prices.

My Aunt quit with the lozenge, but is now addicted to that. So it's best not to get the nicotine
                                                    from the mouth.

                                                    Worked for me. GL

Try chewing skoal, it will help. It also contains vitamin c and other important healthy additives.

Cold turkey is the way to go. Becareful gambling when you first quit. It will be will easy to tilt because you can't smoke.
