Where are the good seats at Yankee Stadium??
Im going to my first (and obviously last) game at yankee stadium at the end of the month. Trying to get some decent priced seats through ebay, can any one recommend a certain tier or section for me to look for. Im thinking NY locals like JJ or crazy here.... Thanks.

The question is,what will Steinbrenner get for the seats when they are removed in 3 months? The A-hole is getting something like close to a billion bucks from the New York and USA taxpayer to replace a national treasure to build his new stadium as being an owner with the hobbie of owning a pro sports team. Why can't the guy finance his own hobbie like everyone else. The feds should move in and collect all the revenue from memorabilia sold from Yankee Stadium.A dollar to a donut,Steinbrenner will get to keep all the procedes from sales of pieces of the stadium.

Follow the money, like anything else.

How much do you have to spend on these seats? I was just there in May and spent about $45 for upper deck seats on a Thursday afternoon game, fairly low in that level, about even with the 3B bag, bought them on line. In the fifth, I moved down and was able to watch the next few innings from some empty seats that were pretty damn close behind the plate (here's a photo I took from the second seats)...

Two days later I was at Shea, almost the exact same seats in the upper deck on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, and they cost me about $15 apiece. So the bottom line is what is your bottom line on how much you're willing to spend? I'd definitely stay out of some of the bleacher sections since at one point in time they didn't sell beer in a couple of those areas and I start jonesing if I can't have a beer and a dog at a ballgame.

I like the lower tier, 1st baseline, right below the upper teir. On hot and sunny days your in the shade the whole day if it's a 1PM start.

The Loge is the best view. If you want fan interaction, then go to right field bleachers. Make sure you dont get center field bleachers, you will need binoculors from there.

blitty, one more bit of advice is if you plan on touring Monument Park, which I highly recommend, get there when the gates open and go directly to where they're lining people up to take that tour. Also, cheaper souvenirs outside the stadium under the 161st Street platform (behind the CF wall basically). I was actually able to barter down the cost of a Matsui t-shirt and a couple of refrigerator magnets (just don't tell my daughter BadNina that I got her magnet on a discount ).

Good seats are hard to get at least in advance these days, I find more will open up closer to gameday online through ticketmaster, or if you drive down early on a garbage game.

Who are they playing? If it's a team that doesn't have that much of a draw, buy the upper deck seats for cheap money and then move down in the third inning. You will not get down to the field level boxes, but you can get great seats sitting field level under the loge overhang. Approach those seats from the top down not from the lower walk ring up, and you will have no problems. Don't buy bleacher seats if you want to drink. No beer sales at all! Monument Park is a great thing, I recommend it.

If they are playing a big draw team you may want to buck-up for the seats, because you won't get to move down. Best value is in the tier boxes in the 600's. $48 game day. If you don't mind spending the money, then I would scalp at the game for field level boxes 1-64. They are all good seats. Just remember the visitors dug-out is on the third base side with even #'s. The Yanks are on first base and all odd ticket #s.

There are also three clubs that you need a ticket to get into. They are usually bought by the season ticket holders. The top one is the Yankee Club. It's located on the same level as the luxury boxes. You need a ticket and you have to go to the press entrance and take the elevator up. There is no other way up there. The next is the Stadium Club, (my favorite). It has outside and inside access. You can get in the stadium an hour before everyone else with that ticket. They have a great buffet downstairs. I highly suggest this. At first glance it's pricey, but you will end up spending the same money on hot dogs and crap throughout the day anyway. It's better value to have peel and eat shrimp and a roast beef carving station. Get there early so you can enjoy this before the game without being rushed. The last is the Pinstripe club. Inside access, they only serve liquor and you can buy pub type food. It's a wanna be club for those that can't afford the other. I would pass on it unless you can't live without a mixed drink during the game.

Try Stub Hub for tickets. Best selection, and the Yankees website will get you an idea of the seating. GL and have fun.

P.S.....very difficult to smoke here if you are a smoker. I mean ALL TYPES of Smoke. They video even the upper deck and you get kicked out QUICKLY. If you need to smoke cigs do it outside on the rail. If you need to smoke anything else, wait till it's a blowout in the 7th and you will be OK if they toss you. Upper deck all by yourself is not OK. I have been tossed and they tape everything.
