NFL Week 1 - Thoughts on a teaser
I generally stay away from teasers but would like people's thoughts on this one:

Patriots -1 at Miami // Chargers -2.5 vs Minnesota

    -110 odds

    1. I "know the history" of New England at Miami. Usually that game is later in the year when the Pats have AFC East locked up, and usually it's a 1PM kickoff in the bright South Florida sun. This is Week 1, Primetime, and the Dolphins don't have shit. The Pats are going to be out for bear seeing as how last season ended for them. I think I'll actually be heavy on Pats -7. Realize that's as square as it gets, but traditionally the squares have CLEANED UP in NFL Week 1 over the past 7 years.

    2. I do worry about the Chargers shitting the bed as usual, and if the Vikings pound AP it's a little scary. This bet is frightening to be sure. Anyone else think there's a safer play out there? The Pats are a sure thing. How about Giants +2.5 at Washington?

Teasing two road favorites in week 1? Not in a million years.

      It's not bad.

Can also tease pats with arizona as they both had huge line moves. Even though I'm not sure if I would trust arizona yet.

Ahhh my mistake. BOL, I personally would not tease in week 1, too much unpredictability.

Please tease the Bears up to +9.5 or 10.... they are not going to get blown out at home by Atlanta.

Pats at Miami is almost a neutral field to be honest. Especially in Week 1 - there are going to be at least 15,000 Pats fans in the stands that night. Maybe more.

I've been to 2 games at Dolphins stadium and the home fans are fairly passive.

I like the Chargers and Pats. Another good teaser possibility is Steelers +9 against Ravens. There's some crazy stat that the past 6 out of 7 of their games have been between 3-7. Most 2 to 3. So getting 9 points in a low-scoring Rivalry this one will probably be a winner.

Why would you "generally stay away from teasers"? They offer great value Just be careful making week 1 bets before week 3 of the preseason due to potential injuries.

I would rather pick your best pick of these 2 and play it on ML.

Sharp post. Lines snug up, early season Wong/basic strategy teasers are not as effective as they will be later on.

do not break the 11th commandment. doth shalt not subtract on a 2 team teaser. always add on the points or you will regret it. not necessarily miami or minn. but hunt for better spots to add on to. but remember, doth shalt not subtract on a 2-3-4 team teaser.

They can be profitable, especially in recent times thus you see books throwing in -9 to avoid them.

I really like SD at home against a new look Vikings offense
The new kickoff rules should really help as well

Vikes I assume will try to play ball control. Word is they have a decent running back. Combine that with SD usual slow start and questionable coaching. I would keep hunting. Do like pats though.
