Kevin Gregg can be added to the list of one of the worst pitchers in the league. I don't get why these guys are called on to close games. Get three outs! That's all you have to do...

A rare but not improbable event with estimated odds of 150/1.

Number of saves Gregg has blown for me, 4.
Rockies like to be involved in comebacks. I lose with them up 8 against the Cubs. Now I lose against them up 9 with the Marlins. Unreal.

The Marlins Have Shit On Them Selves The Last Two Nites And Now Have A Closer Problem That Will Ultimately Set Them Back In My Opinon For The Next Up Coming Months ............. I Say Their Done ! They Have Great Bats But Only Have ONE Starter That Can Take Them To Anything This Year In Ricky Nolasco ............

So it's Gregg's fault for giving up two runs, but you're letting the three relievers -- Tankersley, Miller and Kensing -- who combined to give up eight runs while getting just three outs a free skate in the game? What about Olsen who entered the game with an ERA below 3.50 and allowed nine runs in five frames?

Bottom Line Willie Bee The Last Two Nights The Marlins Had A One Run Lead Going In To The Last Inning Of The Game And He Could Not Get Outs ............ And Blew Two Back To Back Saves ! Regardless What Happen Prior To That Point .......... They Do Have An Issue Now !

This is so sad guys. Instead of talking about what a beautiful game was last night we are arguing about who's fault it is and how the ERA's are messed up now.
The beauty of the game is overshadowed by the stupid fcuking meaningless stats and the rants of compulsive gamblers that can't cap games and pick winners and blame it on the athletes.
If this was a 5-4 soccer game everyone will say it was a heck of game. Noone will be blaming the defenses or the goalies.

I don't get that the first stable FLA ptcher that limited the Rockies to their first 0 on the scoreboard was promptly taken out and replaced with a guy who couldn't throw a strike!

I've also never understood this. The worst about it was Terry Collins when he (mis)managed the Astros in the mid-90s. It was like he was purposely looking for the reliever who could blow the lead. Managers will tell you they can't extend pitchers more than x-pitches, or that guys have their roles and to use them in rolses they're not accustomed to is a recipe for disaster. But I just think they're managing 'by the book' too often simply to avoid having some reporter ask them why didn't they use their closer or their setup arm instead of the guy that was pitching well.

Maybe they are having "issues now," as you say, but that doesn't mean they will be having the same issues with Gregg later, and it certainly doesn't mean they were having any issues with him earlier this season. Gregg coughed up save ops just twice in the first two months, and has now coughed up two in a row. When I look at his work of late, however, I'm left scratching my head about the issues they're having might be related more to the managerial decisions and not Gregg's ability. Gregg has been called in four times in the last five days, and the last three games in a row, plus was coming off a 30-pitch outing the night before.
So I have to agree with ZXCVBNM123 here more than simply cast all of the blame on Gregg. Waechter certainly has the ability to pitch more than an inning, or third of an inning (6 pitches) like he did yesterday. With Gregg having been worked the previous two games and three of the previous four, it was Gonzalez' decision not to send Waechter back out in the ninth on Friday that I question more than Gregg's ability.

As a lefty, he was brought in to pitch to letf-handed Quintanilla and he did his job. Where was no reason to keep him pitching to a bunch of right-handers coming up the order.
