Which hot springs are you going to? Tabacon is prettier, but Baldi is cheaper. More locals go to Baldi, and tourists go to Tabacon. If you're seeing Arenal during the day, you'll be disappointed - not much to see. If you're coming back later at night (and you know how early it gets dark here), then I hope you get to see the lava flow - it's soooooo amazing watching that.
