You all know there was a big ass defecit before president obama got in office right. Republicans are just bringing this up to make it seem like Obama is responsible for the past 40 years of careless spending in america all in the name of Capitalism.

They act like this s h i t just started two years ago.

This is all fine and dandy but the guys who make the laws have the money and power? How will it ever change?

Even W. Buffet said the very rich should pay more taxes, yet it falls on deaf ears. The only thing that would make a change of this proportion would be a full scale revolution (think Civil war).

If the rich MF'ers realize they and their families can be touched just like everyone else then they may have some compassion, for a little while. Right now they are feeling very superior and untouchable (9/11 anyone?).

Short of this, things will stay the same until a tragic natural disaster happens to change things (something along the lines of the ice age). That is about the only hope we have. People are too greedy by nature to change themselves. Every country in the world has problems related to greed and corruption. I think we fail to realize that humans are just animals...with the ability to reason. Animals hoard, kill, shun the weak, establish Hierarchies, fight for supremacy etc. The same thing that humans do just on a different level.

However that said, I don't think this inequality is something that we do not talk about. Who knows maybe one day people will grow tired and their balls will be big enough to take back the power that has been so foolishly heaped onto the Federal government. But then again maybe not, how often do you see a Lion dethroned in the wild, except by a bigger, stronger lion. Have you ever seen or even heard of a pack of cubs revolt and take down a lion? It does not happen. They may fight a little bit to protect their home but that is about it. we may as well just bend over and take it like the sluts that we are (as a nation).

Mega-rich don't pay payroll taxes. Their salary is $1 a year. They only pay 15% on investment income.

Does that extra 1.5% really make that much of a difference? I'm all for making them pay it, but its not like that will balance the budget

No doubt they do feel untouchable.... It would be prudent of them to give in and give up some of their wealth to bring a bit more of a middle class back to keep the status quo.

And also Sam, they try to distract the masses because they know that even a lion can fall. If attacked by a large enough group of hungry wolves the lion would fall, which is what people are becoming. The funny thing is the wolves (the people) only want the scraps the lion does not want or need anyways and the lion to continue doing what he does. Nobody wants revolution or revolt and that is why it has not yet happened. All they have to do is right the mess the created with their greed and give society and the average citizen a shot at success.
