Well, if you respect Thome, you have to respect Barry bonds or you are a hypocrite.
I even had more respect for Bonds when he broke the record for a lot more reasons but the one that I would like to compare with thome is that Bonds was at least contributing to his team (even though it was as small as it was). Thome just hung on with a sucker of a team in Minnesota. Tough times for the Twins ahead, definitely, and this is what those fans are hanging on to.
