    Are dart shooters athletes?
They shoot darts from 5 feet away on a 1 foot round target.

              I rank chess over darts

You need a lot of stamina to sit at a chess board for 4-5 hours constantly analyzing. Takes its toll on your body. Any 1000lb boat can throw darts for 30mins. Though, of course, it is a more 'physical' game than chess.

They're both games if you ask me. Same w/ poker.

It's a game. Athletes play sports, and the derivative of such which is games. But said game is just a game.

Many people can play and be elite at games, athletes can play and be elite at games, but many people can't play and be elite at athletics.

An athlete is defined as "A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts."

Darts doesn't inherently possess strength, agility, nor endurance. I've seen fat drunk jerkoffs who couldn't run to the bathroom and back without puking dominate this game of practice and experiance. It can be competitive, but god damn, so can Monopoly.

                      It's a skill!

Dart throwing is a skill and can be done by athletes and non athletes alike.Golf used to be more of a skill too but the more golfers like Tiger Woods started working out,the more it became an athletic sport.John Daly and Craig the Walruss Stadler have a skill and some say Daly was a great athlete but if you are out of shape and don't have endurance under hot conditions and such, you aren't going to win much.

I have a relative that is a huge beer drinking greasy meat eating type but boy can the guy shoot horse shoes. But if he entered tournaments and had to travel and play in hot weather his skills would be diminished by a few percent and that would be enough to make him an also ran in a tournament.A guy with his skills that was in great shape would win. That's a skill and not an athletic even just like darts.Pool is another skill game but it helps being in great shape with all the bending etc.that goes on in a game. One miscue by a slobby guy like the late Minnesota Fats because he huffed and puffed too hard by being out of shape can cost you a tournament.
