#3Can the Big 12 not accept them back? I'm not saying they should or shouldn't, I'm just wondering if A&M overplayed their hand here?Comment -

#6Tomorrow A&M will formally leave the Big 12, Tuesday meet with State Legislatures to get their blessing, then they will request an invitation from the SEC after that and then the SEC votes.
SEC and A&M making sure they don't set SEC up for tortious interference, reason for the announcement from the SEC today.Comment -

#7sec doesn't want to have odd number of teams...a/m may help their women's programs but the guys are mediocred and they don't have female cheerleadersComment -

#9LOL if the SEC offers A&M it's because of the huge market of Texas they add as well as being "good enough" in sports......all about the moneyOriginally posted by hornsrgrtsec doesn't want to have odd number of teams...a/m may help their women's programs but the guys are mediocred and they don't have female cheerleaders
I really wish all the conferences would just stay as they are......Don't need to make all these super-conferences in order to eventually have a playoff system in football.....other ways to do it as it stands nowComment -

#14SEC said, we'd love to have you, but we don't want the lawsuits from the BIG 12 and Fox.... so this is part of the process. Texas A&M is officially tired of Texas running their world.Comment -

#15The following just came across the local news here in Houston....
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The Texas A&M Board of Regents has given President R. Bowen Loftin the authority to move the Aggies out of the Big 12.

<!-- end relatedMod for "links" -->The board took the action Monday, giving Loftin the OK to take any action he deems necessary when it comes to conference alignment. There has been speculation that the Aggies are looking to leave the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference.
The SEC on Sunday reaffirmed its 12-school alignment, but left the door open for expansion.
The vote came soon after the chairman of the Texas House Committee on Higher Education, state Rep. Dan Branch, indefinitely postponed a legislative hearing on the subject.Comment -

#16For anyone interested, Texas State Legislature canceled their meeting tomorrow. Aren't going to require a formal blessing for A&M to walk.
Only a matter of time of ironing out details, official announcement after that...whenever that is.Comment -

#17Haha big blow to them...pretty funny they are trying to cover it up by saying all options are still open and are refusing to say the SEC didn't invite them in.Comment -

#18I think it's pretty well understood that behind closed doors, the deal is done.
To avoid suits from Baylor and Texas, it's now a case of 'it's not what you know, but what you can prove'. Hence the posturing.
A&M allowing enough space to tie up any suits, buy-out clauses, etc. into litigation until the dissolving of the Big 12, which will be within the next 2 years. You don't owe anyone money, if there's noone to collect.Comment -

#19Texas A & M is tired to being 2nd fiddle to UT and they want to make a move. So they move to the SEC and become a bottom of the conference team. Makes alot of sense to me. What a bunch of fuckin morons.Comment -
