If he comes in and runs it straight laced and stops all the Bullshit from happening it will affect them greatly I believe.

The NBA is scared of what Donaghy is going to reveal and can prove so it is taking precautionary steps with this action I do believe....

A United States Army general has been hired by the NBA to the newly created position of senior vice president for referee operations, the league announced Tuesday.

Ronald L. Johnson, a two-star general who recently retired from active duty as deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be responsible for all aspects of the NBA's officiating program, including recruiting, training and development, scheduling, data management and analysis, and work rules enforcement.

That's just what they need. Maybe he'll get Stern on the floor for some pushups while he's at it.

The Officiating has been bad for a long time... It was always skewed in the 80's to the Home teams and superstars, but not like it is now. I believe it got worse when the league had no marketable players after Jordan left and they did it to try to create superstars instead of letting the players become them on their own. Ever Since the late 90's the officiating has become comical. Dick Bavetta needs to be strung up by his nutsack and they need to let every person that has been screwed by this tickturd to get 20' away and shoot his nutsack with a CO2 powered bbgun

I don't believe so... The NBA and Stern has its nuts in a sling and they are doing damage control. The story Donaghy told that was released to the public checked out.. and I believe he is going to reveal a good bit... Even if no one else is charged the cat is out of the bag and they have to something noticeable on the court... Just hiring this cat is not going to change the perception.

Damage control before they have to admit what we all knew right along. They have been calling fouls to enhance TV revenue. It was the betting scandal that showed the facts. You can cover shit up, but it will always stink till it rises to the surface for all to see. Best to deal with the shit as it comes the right way.

Why a military general..? WTF is that..? I wouldn't doubt if this was the beginning of the military integrating with civilian life... I expect them to start playing bigger and bigger roles in our everyday life...

Excuse my ignorance but what credentials does an army general have to be in charge of basketball refereeing?

                    An army general

The guy has no experience whatsoever in organized athletics let alone the NBA. What makes anyone think anything is going to be different...just b/c he is a "military man" somehow qualifies him to oversee NBA officiating. Give me a break. This is strictly a PR stunt by the NBA, just to make it look like they are going to be super strict.

****ing Ray Charles could see the shitty officiating before... I am sure he knows the game of basketball as well.. Not like you have to be Magic Johnson or Larry Bird to be able to see the bullshit going on... Pretty much just opening your eyes and watching a game lets you see what you need to see
