A jogger on Galveston Island discovered 25 Bricks Of Cocaine

GALVESTON — A jogger on Galveston Island discovered a bag in the surf Tuesday containing 25 bricks of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2 million.
The jogger, whose name police are withholding, discovered the bag about 9:30 a.m. near Indian Beach, police spokesman Cpt. Jeff Heyse said.
He lugged the heavy bag to his residence and slashed it open to find 25 bricks of cocaine, each weighing 1 kilogram or 2.2 pounds, bundled in plastic wrap and rubber, Heyse said.
Recognizing the packages as cocaine from television programs, the jogger phoned police, Heyse said. The bricks tested positive for cocaine, he said.
The wholesale value of each brick is about $675,000, he said.
Heyse speculated that the cocaine could have been dumped overboard by drug runners at the approach of a U.S. Coast Guard vessel or may have been intentionally allowed to drift into the beach for a pickup.
He said the drugs would be sent to a Federal Bureau of Investigation lab. The lab would be able to determine the country of origin, but it would be nearly impossible to find out who tossed it overboard.
"We'll never know, unless a body washes up behind it," Heyse said.

this is just a guess. the guy is a runner. runners on a whole are healthy non drug users. they probably tend to be risk averse because they don't smoke, eat junk, etc.

And a smart way of sitting on it to let the street heat pass is give a letter addressed to your local police stating what you found and that you didn't know what to do with it so you wrote the letter. Give the letter to your friend and when you get your one phone call, tell him to drop it in the mail. You simply tell the police you mailed a letter asking what to do with it.

(Good)coke has been 80-100 bux a gram forever, a kilo is 1000 grams. So if it sold as is 1 gram at a time thats 80-100K a key. Obviously people get discounts for large amounts so 67.50 a gram might seem plausible. But that is also uncut. If the shit was uncut then youre talking some serious difference in amount. That 25 keys could end up being 75 or more at the prices mentioned. So it could have been worth over 50 mil if it were pure coke.

More than likely it was crack rock shit (freebase for the old school guys) which sells for nothing. So that is why it was valued so low more than likely.

So who knows, what its really worth, but since they said 675K a brick that would be 25 times 675, which I know is more than 2 mil. I think the guy who wrote the stroy forgot a 0 somewhere and it was maybe estimated at 20 mil. Which meant it was good stuff already cut up.

Current TV had a story a couple of years ago called Fishing for Blow about a coastal town in Nicaragua where bales of coke would naturally end up due to the tides. Locals call them white lobsters and you can see by the houses who has ever found one. Really interesting.
