Just take SBR for example on why I think sportsbetting is looked upon as being even more taboo than incest or kiddy porn. You would think that when posting that you would give away tips to who you are where people from your area would recognize you.Has anyone here ever run into someone they know?It doesn't seem like that happens much.If someone does recognize you, they probably don't want to get in contact in fear of being outed where your loved one's will find out that you bet on sports.
SBR is to sports betting as to what Raging Bull is to stock investing but SBR is just a sub culture niche compared to Raging Bull where there are millions of people blogging. For how big sports and gambling are in this country, sports blogging really holds a tiny share of people that become forum members.
Look at when you go to sports bars and how people just pretend to care who wins a game because they are true blue fans instead of having bets on the games. You really don't hear allot of people in these places talking about betting.
The same goes for people in the media especially in sports where the topic of sportsbetting comes up less than talking about seeing a ghost,a UFO or bigfoot. It's like it doesn't exist!I listen to allot of talk radio in general and sports betting never comes up in casual conversations at all and these hosts aren't even affiliated with pro leagues where they can get reprimanded for talking about gambling on games.
Sports betting is really, really deep in the closet in my opinion where parents would rather have a kid come home with a same sex partner and fess up to being gay rather than to say they bet on games.Sports betting really has an image problem and it's looked upon as something dirty old men do that lived really dysfunctional lives.hehe! You get the vision of guys in outdated black top coats, scuffed up black wing tip shoes and old hats that were in style in the 30's and 40's that live in one room flea bag hotel rooms.
If the Raging Bull Forum was giving away all expense paid trips to stay by Wall Street like SBR is doing for Vegas, there would be enough people taking them up on the offer to fill the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
