If you are part of the Hip-Hop culture like I am you can realize how much of a joke all this banter is. I eat,sleep,and drink Hip-Hop. It is true there will never be another period of great rap music like there was in the late 80's and early 90's. Notice I said " Rap music " Rap is something you listen to and Hip-Hop is something you live. there is no such thing as Hip hOp music. You have to search harder for music that is great within the rap genre now. That great music has never been on mainstream radio and never will be. I also believe we have never had better technology to find good music.
In the 90's when I was a world class Graffiti writer and all around music buff I had to search hard to find underground stuff I wanted to listen to. NOW - The Internet is the only place I have to go. I only buy CD's of local artists that hustle them at shows or on the streets. I also will buy the occasional mix tape from NYC if I can get my hands on them.
